Please don't let Splenda products fool you.
Ummm... all that Splenda KILLED me. I cut it out two days ago and I'm still suffering the side effects.
Splenda is poison. Look it up on google. It's very harmful, and I don't recommend it in any form, except in serious moderation.

Odd. I use about 2/3 of a cup splenda a day in my iced tea. More in other applications. Been doing this for a couple of years now. If it were poison, one thinks that I might have noticed some ill effect by now.
Yeah. Odd.

"Sucralose was well tolerated by human volunteers in single doses up to 10 mg/kg/day and repeated doses increasing to 5 mg/kg/day for 13 weeks"
Thats a really low dose of splenda:
"11.9 mg of sucralose in a 1g retail packet of Splenda"
so of course that study is going to show no reaction. Its a VERY small amout. And when you induce a toxin slowly into the body it adjust slowly so you notice symptoms less. Also I had a reaction that takes a couple months of consumption to show. Right at that paticular studies cut off point. They manipulate studies to reflect what they want them too.
At the end of the stude they only would of been eating 38 pkts of splenda. Now when you add up a bunch of diet foods with that and your drinks as well...You easily go over that amt.
Hmmmm...not sure if I'm reading this right, but it looks to me like this would mean that the amount they ingested was 10 mg per kg of body weight per day. Wouldn't that be more like the equivalent of 50 packets of Splenda per day for a 135 lb (61 kg) person?
I don't have a problem with Splenda, nor do I feel the need to defend it vigorously - just making a note about this particular study.
I think it's a personal thing.
If you google side effects to anything. This internet will find something no doubt.
I love splenda I use at least two packets every single day for as long as I can remember and I haven't had any side effects whatsoever. If you like to use sugar in lieu of splenda, google side effects to sugar and you will definitely find something negative.
I agree with a previous post, don't go making crazy claims about something you know very little about. you can't believe everything you read.
I am in the middle of a nightmare I feel was caused mainly by Splenda. I have missed 4 periods now and a C-Scan has revealed 30-40 lbs of water sitting around my abdomen! The water appeared almost over night. For the past 2-3 mos I have been pretty much confined to my bdm dependant on my husband for everything. In addit ion to the water gain I have also suffered from painful muscle spasms in my back that last for weeks at a time. RX pain meds barely make a dent in the pain. In the beginning I also had insomnia for weeks on end, stomach cramps, diarreah & constipation. By connecting the dots I began to suspect the Splenda & cut it from my diet. Within a few days I had no more muscle spasms or stomach distress & was finally able to sleep again. Unfortunately the water remained. Recently the symptoms returned with a vengence & I was at a loss to explain it so I started reading labels on all the low carb foods I use. The culprit turned out to be low carb bread & low carb flour tortillas. They aren't sweet so I never thought to check for Splenda in these products but there it was. These items went promptly in the trash & 3-4 days later the muscle spasms, etc were gone. The water remains. My doctor has had me on water pills for over a month now. I was making some progress until my latest episode with Splenda. Now I am back to square one. I am praying that once the Splenda has completely left my system the water will go too. Otherwise my doctor will insist on drastic measures to have it removed. They are not willing to accept my Splenda theory even though they have no answers. My blood work has all come back normal. I may never be able to proove that Splenda caused my problems but I will never use it again. It's just not worth it.
It's a logical fallacy to conclude that because one event happened after another, the first event caused the second. So it's possible that the artificial sweeteners caused those side effects, but it's also possible that they didn't.
Personally I have been cutting waaay back on artificial sweetners so that I all I have is the occasional packet of splenda in my coffee (I usually use stevia). I found that "sugar free" food products never satisfied me and just left me craving junk. :/
Luckily I've never had much of a sweet tooth but I did notice that about artificial sweetners. The more you use the more you seem to want. Guess that's why Dr. Atkins was adamant that you not use more than 2 teaspoons of Splenda per day. I got into trouble with the beverages. Got sick of drinking water all the time. I absolutely fell in love with Ocean Spray Crangrape. Now I'm back to water & herbal tea only.... no sweetners.
Meh - of all the things I used to eat that were bad for me, Splenda ranks really low on the list. Never had any adverse effects I could blame on the Splenda.
I still have it sometimes, but mainly I just am trying to change my tastebuds to get rid of the sweet tooth.
I had been using Splenda on/off for years with no noticeable problems until recently. It may be bothering me more now due to my age. I'm 49 & I think I may be going thru menopause or getting ready to. I'm just at a total loss as to what's happening to me. Unfortunately so is my doctor.... sigh. If anyone has ever heard of this much water gain and how it was caused please, please post a reply. I'm getting desperate.
