Please help...How do i get back into the routein?
I'm a complete junk food and chocoholic, which is probably why I gained the weight in the first place, but when I decided that I wanted get back to a weight where I felt good about myslef, it was like I turned off a switch.
I had self control that I'd never seen in myself before, I could refuse any type of sweet or greasy comfort food, and six weeks later I had dropped a half a stone and I was happy.
Now its a month later, and I've completely lost my routein. My self control has gone out the window entirely, I've put back on a pound, which isnt alot but I'm worried that it'll continue to go up and up because for some reason I've gone back to my old ways of chocolate craving.
How was I able to just stop it a few weeks ago and now it seems impossible? Has anyone else gone through this? Any advice any help? Please?
Good morning, Yes, I have been through the loss of routine and am just now getting back into the swing of things.
Here's my deal: I lost 35 pounds and was doing great about keeping it off. Then last summer, my husband and I moved to a new town and I was completely out of sorts. I hated where we live because there was no convenient place to walk. (We live along a major highway now, where it is dangerous to walk with semi trucks whizzing by and stuff). Everywhere I want to walk, I have to load up everything in the car, drive there, find a place where it is legal to park, then try to get some walking in. My gym membership where we onced lived isn't valid, because there isn't another gym for 30 miles. So, I basically sat here, depressed, gained back 9 pounds and I am just SICK about it.
So, what is my motivation to get back into it? Forgiveness. I forgive myself for gaining back that extra weight and I realize that it is only going to get worse if I don't just move on, and make the best of what I have got. I started eating clean again, quit drinking alcohol, quit feeling sorry for myself and got on my loud and obnoxious treadmill and started pounding away. The biggest motivator is that when I lost the weight before, I gave away all of my 'fat' clothes, so now I have this closet full of size 8 clothing that is just staring at me waiting for me to do something so that I can wear them.
Last week I also stumbled across a beach that is not too far away. Growing up I used to love to go to the beach and so that is a motivator, because I want to get into shape to where I can hang out in the sun like I did growing up. Another motivator is that I am 43 years old, and I am going to beat menopause and not allow my body to lose control.
So, it's just a matter of deciding how you want to feel, and what you are willing to do to feel that way. Just think of how good you feel inside when your body isn't caked full of all of that junk. Life is good. Embrace!
I have the exact same problem. For the fiurst month to six weeks I'm super motivated and then when I start to see results and start to feel good about myself again the motivation disappears. I was just wondering what to do about this myself.
I was thinking along the lines of when I lose the next 10lb I'll treat myself to the expensive dress I've been coveting for a while now.
Hope this helps. I'll be checking back to see what suggestions others have.
It's just about getting your priorities straight and figuring out what you really want. It's quite simple actually: if you eat a lot of sweets and gain weight then that simply means sweets and freedom are more important to you than a healthy weight and self-control. It's really just about deciding what you want the most. You can't have everything.
MCG,
Also has happened to me. Here is how I got back on track:
1. Absolutely forgive yourself. Put it behind you and start again.
2. Pick a calorie target several hundred over your target goal. Aim at that. Allow yourself snacks between meals. Don't go hungry. When you are hungry your self-control falters.
3. Now, slowly decrease your calorie total every day, knocking off little by little those extra calories. And add better quality food, fresh food, less processed. and don't forget to drink your water and get plenty of sleep.
4. Eventually, you will ease back into your routine and just keep going.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
