Please help me choose a healthy size!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hi, i am brand new to calorie count, and I am trying to choose a good size for myself. I had my daughter in September of 2006, and I had gained 40 pounds from the pregnancy. Since then I have already lost 42 pounds. Before i got pregnant, I already wanted to lose about 10-15 pounds. I still want to achieve that goal, but I want to see what size i would be comfortable in. I am 5' 4.5'' and a size 9/10 now and I am thinking I should get to a size 7/8 or 5/6 in juniors by the summer. I know the number of pounds a woman weigh varies for a different number of reasons, but how much should i weigh to get to a size 7/8 or 5/6 in juniors clothing. For women who already wear these sizes, please state your height and your weight. Thanks a lot for helping improve my body as well as my health.

As many will tell you, there is no correlation between size and weight as this varies for everyone. If you're going for a certain size, make sure you do strength training so that you become leaner and more toned, and lose the inches that you want. But there is no "weight" associated with size, unfortunately.

For example, I'm 5' 6". I'm 135 lbs at the moment. I work my muscles and am close to being pretty toned, so my size isn't that big (varies from 2-6 depending on the store). But if I had very little muscle and was 135 lbs of fat, my size would be bigger.

I am 5'4" and am a size 5/6 at 140 and a size 7/8 at 150.  Unfortunately, I am far from these weights at the moment, but I am working my way back down.  The previous response was correct...it is different for everyone, but hopefully this will give you a general idea.

Good luck!

I'm 5'4 and a size 8 (grown up size) and 143lbs.  When I'm 130 I'm a size 4.

I wouldn't try to wear juniors sizes if you aren't 18 or younger.  I don't think they're cut the same - I think they're smaller in the thigh and hips.
