Please help me find a not so sour tasting yougurt

Quote  |  Reply

I know some yogurts are a healthy snack even more so if you substitute it for something unhealthy. I also see so many delicious & decadent sounding/looking yogurts in the supermarket but when I try a couple I  taste some of the flavor they're advertising but the sour/bitter aftertaste ruins it for meCry

I need help finding a healthy and not so sour tasting yogurt. I have tried Weight Watchers and Yoplait Light and I did not care for them. Don't get me wrong I would eat them if I had to for a healthy snack...they're edible just not enjoyable.

I recently tried out Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy; Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Roll, and Strawberry.

I'm eating the strawberry one right now and I can taste the strawberry without so much sourness(yay!)...the other two not so much.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely love Stonyfield Farm's low-fat Vanilla.  I usually hate anything with vanilla flavor but I love this one.  I highly recommend it because I think that is it roughly the most amazing thing ever.

I eat the Danon Light & Fit yougurt.  I like all of there taste.  I don't taste the sour, but maybe it is.

I was having the same problem! Just yesterday I tried the yoplait light thick & creamy too, lemon merangue, and I really liked it! I have tried soooooooooooo many since this diet and I really like this the best. It's more like pudding texture. I just ate the cherry cobbler with my lunch. I actually quite liked it---seemed tart just like cherries would be. Not so yogurt-y. I had been hoping some of the other lovely takes on cheesecakes would be good, but, nope. I buy one of each until I find one I like. Today is the only time I've went back for more of the same cariety, that is I bought another lemon and a few of the other flavors (cinn roll, cherry, and lime) Not sure how cinnamon roll is going to be in a yogurt, but....I'm going to try it. I also tried the whips chocolate mousse. Eh. I was hoping for better. Guess we really aren't going to find one that totally tastes as decadent as the flavor they are depicting. (sigh)

Try not buying the very low-fat kind but choosing regular yoghurt.  There's actually not much calorie difference per pot and the little bit of fat makes the whole thing less acidic.

Stonyfield or Mountain High are great. I like plain, low fat or non fat yogurt. I cook with yogurt a lot (savory) so I prefer it plain but use it for sweet snacks/desserts as well. My favorite is a 'parfait' of sorts made with kashi cereal, plain yogurt and topped with fresh blueberries. If you like it sweet, try adding a bit of honey, lemon juice or lemon rind.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for the suggestions everyone, I'll be sure to give Stonyfield Farm and Danon Light & Fit a try.

I just tried Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy French Vanilla and it tastes to me like the filling you get in a doughnut so along with strawberry I know I like at least two yay!

I hate the taste of most yogurt. The only kind I can stomach is the Light America's Choice(Waldbams)/Pathmark brand Cappuchino flavored yogurt.

Reminds me of a creamy coffee treat. :)

Maybe you'll find that you just don't like yogurt.  If so, there's really no reason to eat it.  There's nothing magical about it, it's just a dairy product.  You can get your calcium from many different sources, including simply drinking a glass of skim milk or eating more broccoli.

I think the sour taste is just a natural quality of yogurt.  It's enough to keep me away from the stuff.  I eat cottage cheese instead.

I am totally hooked on the FAGE 100% fat free, with a tsp of spun honey stirred in, it's awesome.

If she hates sour yogurt, Fage is def. not the way to go.
