Please help me out here..


Okay, im 14. 5ft 4in, and 110lbs. My goal is to get down to 100-103lbs. I have been dieting for awhile (highest weight was 125lbs). And im just so obsessed with food its all i think about. im CONSTANTLY thinking about calories. And somtimes i have "binges" where i eat like 1600 calories for that whole day, but i feel liek its way to much so ive tryed to puke it up, which i have done in the past. i know thats bad but i dont do it often at all. I dont really have time to excersise so i have been eating about 1200 calories a day for liek a month or so, and recently (a week or so ago) ive been having around 900-1000 calories a day. I dont know if this is healthy but im just to afraid to eat any more. I feel like ill gain if i eat anything more. Ughh, i dont know im so confused and dont know what to do. Oh and ever since i've started eating less (end of summer) i lost my period and i used to get it pretty regularly i dont knwo if that has to do with my weight loss, or just stress from school. But i dont think ill ever be able to go back to how i was before i mean i used to eat sooooo much. its a miracle i wasnt bigger. I counted it up and i used to eat like 3000cals a day!! EVERDAY! If not more somtimes. I just dont know what to do i cant go on like this, but i cant bring myself to eat any more. Im wondering if 1000 cals is healthy or not? Like the next day i say oh ill eat 1200 tommarow, but i just cant bring myself to do it.

 

ps- im also really obsessed with other peoples food. like i constantly ask my friends wht they eat in the day and everything.

you don't need to lose any weight. you're only 14 and already thin for your height. instead of focusing on losing pounds, you might want to tone up to feel better about your image. don't eat less than 1200, as that can easily spiral down into an eating disorder and just stay healthy. you won't gain weight if you start doing it the RIGHT way now. if you start starving yourself then you'll go into starvation mode and gain more weight.. so just forget about losing weight and maintain your weight happily. good luck :)

Maybe you should talk to a parent or someone.

And since your still a teen, you should definatley be eating more!! And you really shouldnt try to loose anymore weight, just tone up a little and then maybe you will be happier:]

I'm sorry to break this to you honey, but you are well on your way to an eating disorder...

1) You are at a very low weight and still think you need to be thinner

2) You (apparently) count every calorie

3) You obsess over food

4) You purge (perhaps not often, but its a very slippery slope)

5) You've lost your period...

You need to talk to someone before this spirals out of your control.  You can start with the school nurse, if you are afraid to go to your parents, or some other trusted adult. 1000 calories per day is nowhere near the place you want to be at your age! Do you want to be stunted? Do you want to become infertile? (no kids. ever)

Please, I beg you, don't go down this road.  At your age, you should be eating 1800-2000 calories to maintain.  Try to get yourself back up to that number, and maybe do some exercise so that you'll have a rock-hard bod :-) But please, please, please talk to someone.

PLEASE do yourself a favour and be eating a minimum of 1800 calories per day. The minimum for our age i;d say is around 1500-1600 but that's for people who are OVERWEIGHT and trying to lose a good amount. You are at a perfect weight for your height and age and i'd LOVE to be 110 pounds, but i still have some to gain before i get htere and i'm 13 and 5''1! for me being 103 isn't healthy even though my highest was lower than that. by the time i;m your age (1 year) i hope to be around 110, so you certainly shouldnt try to lose, you should consider gaining through building muscle, but RIGHT AWAY raise your cals to boost your metabolism so it burns more :) exercise MODERATELY so you can eat MORE (then you can eat your 3000 cals per day w/o worry)

 

if you think 110 is fat, look at my picture and tell me if you think I look fat, and then look at yourself and ask yourself the same question (even if you think i look fat i'd take it as a compliment and i'd still try and gain around 10 lbs)

The absolute minimum a 14 year old, 5'4" female, weighing 104 lbs should eat is 1720 -- and that is if she is totally sedentary (that means no walking the halls between classes, walking the mall, etc.  If you are at all active (like most 14 year old girls) you could eat 2300+ calories and NOT gain weight

So -- right now, not only are you NOT eating enough for your age, height, or desired weight, you are not eating enough at all.

I don't know that you have an eating disorder, but you are showing signs of disordered eating -- which if not brought into check can quickly deteriorate into an ED.
