Hi guys,

OKay so every week I have a strict diet and by friday my weight is 50 kilos.. but then in the weekend and in the weekend nights i cannot help myself and I overeat like none other. I end up gaining about 2 kilos by Monday and then again that week I stay on the strict diet and come back to around 50 kilos or 51 kilos on friday... I think i have a complusive eating problem cause I always eat in the weekend and I cannot stop. I really need help and motivation to stop doing that. It is very annoying. I eat till my stomach is sick and for some reason it takes a LONG time and a LOT of food for me to get full.. I do not get full easily either. Like the other day I ate 8 slices of pizza in a sitting and I didnt even feel full. Please someone help me!

You don't gain 2 kilos in a weekend unless you take in 14000 calories more than you need.... so a total intake of about 18000+ (eighteen thousand) calories.  What you're seeing on the scales is fluid retention....   People who are on a 'strict diet' all week will rund down their short-term energy stores and the fluid with them.  Eat a lot at the weekend... especially alcoholic drinks, salty, sugary or starchy foods and you plump those stores back up again.   Result - rapid but temporary weight-gain.  If your response is to try to diet yourself back down again you're in danger of getting into a 'starve binge cycle'.... not healthy at all.

Many people make the same mistake that you're making.  Chances are you do not have a  'weekend compulsive eating problem'.  You are much more likely to have a 'weekday undereating problem'

The solution is two-fold.  First, make sure that 50kgs is an appropriate weight for someone your age and height by checking your BMI.  Below BMI 20 and it's probably too low..... people trying to maintain too low a weight get into all kinds of terrible trouble.  Not least, starving to stay that thin followed by bingeing out of necessity.

Second.  Make sure you're getting the right amount to eat for your age, size and level of activity every day.  Given that you're posting in Weight Maintenance you do not need to be on a 'strict diet'.  A reasonable amount to start with would be 2000 cals but since you seem to be pretty active & under 21 it could easily be higher (see link)   http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html

Make up your 2000 cals (or whatever it needs to be) with a good variety of quality wholefoods so that your body has all the nourishment it needs.   Eat regularly.   If you eat properly all week you will find you are less likely to overeat at the weekends.  Problem solved.
