Hi Im Ailia and I'm currently around 110 pds and at 5'1 I was wondering if anyone had any pics or would know what i would lok like if i lost 10 pds. I was at 95 pds before and my friends had told me that I was too skinny so i was wonderin gif 100 would be too skinny or healthy..... here are a couple pics I'm the blonde in the first and i have a blue streak in my hair on the second.
5'1" 110 pounds puts you at a bmi of 20.8. 100 pounds would put you at a bmi of 18.9 which is just shy of being underweight. 105 would put you at a bmi of 19.8. Honestly, I would say start strength training and put on some muscle rather then lose weight if you are unhappy with the way you look.
Thats what I'm trying to do. I'm very active, but im not sure how to build muscle as opposed to just fat.

um, well working out will make you build muscle as opposed to just fat. use the cc tools to find the healthy calorie range for you (and if you are a teen there is a minimum). Make sure to include calories your body will need to be working out.
If you need help with strength training, there is the fitness forum, or consult a personal trainer, etc..
I don't know how you would look, but after a while at a too low weight you would surely feel pretty bad. Malnutrition is no joke.
Your weight is as low as it should be to still be healthy and I agree that instead of restricting calories and losing weight you can do a lot for your appearance with proper exercise. Putting on muscle is a good thing. Muscle burns calories and fat doesn't. That means you can eat more and eating more means more nutrition for your body.
I hope that makes sense.
By the way - nobody really cares about how you look. They care about you as a whole person, not an image.
Lift weights according to the hypertrophic principles (just google hypertrophia for more info) and eat towards muscle growth, ie. eat plenty of protein (1g/pound is often recommended) and eat more calories than you need: roughly 2000-3500 more to build a pound of dry muscle. Yes, you will put back on some fat doing this as well and you will have to eat extra for what you are burning in cardio as well. You can do cardio and grow muscle at the same time but it will be more challenging than doing only weight lifting.(This was posted by Dabrock in another thread(didnt want to re write it). Remember to build in periods of rest as well your body doesnt build muscle while your working out it actualy builds while your at rest.
So i should take a day or two off a week to let my body recoop right?
I'm not so much worried about how other people veiw me as how i veiw myself I want to be healthy and strong not some anorexic chick like alot of girls are becoming.
"So i should take a day or two off a week to let my body recoop right?"
Yes, typically i work out 6 days a week and take sunday off. I would reccomend going over to the fitness forums read the injury prevention article then check out the fitness faq if you have any questions and feel free to post there if you need help designing a work out there is alot of really knowledgeable people there.
Alright awsome, thanx
