walk every morning with my two bosten terriers, very fast, thats the way they are ,their very strong, anyway my question is , i also lift free weights, not real big, 20 pounders right now every other day, but my weight has went up about 5 to8 pounds in the last couple of months, my clothes fit fine, i wear size 00s, 0s and some 1s, I used to weigh 275 pounds and had gastric bypass a little over five years ago, i also had reconstructive surgery to remove excess skin, i am a scale addict, i know i shouldn't be, but my weight gain  is driving me nuts, im 54 years old and also had to have a hysterectomy , does menopause have anything to do with the weight gain? and im also on seizure meds twice daily,i  have had 4 seizures, my blood sugar goes way down if i eat sugar or high fats, and i end up having a seizure if i dont get protein into my system really quickly,  so the weight gain is not from eats high fats or sugar, my doctor says that its possibly a side effect from the gastric bypass, but i still want my weight to be 110 or lower , not 125, maybe im being petty, but im freaking, yeah my family says im nuts too

I'm no expert but I do know that menopause does have an impact on weight.  It can cause you to gain.  I am 43 and my gyno said she thought I might be in pre-menopause because of a few female symptoms AND the fact that despite lots of conscious and healthy diet and exercise my weight seems cemented at 131.

This being said, I would like to advise that you focus as much as you can on your health and make sure you are putting that first before any number on the scale.  seizures, meopause and other health issues are serious and you should put that above all else.  I know how hard it is and I'm sitting her thinking, yeah Paula, talk is cheap cause I do the same thing (have been known to weigh myself twice in one day).  But what I'm really working on is loving myself as is and at the same time eating healthy.  Enough preaching!  Sorry.  I wish you good health and peace!
I agree with bintzp.  My Mom is starting menopause, and I heard from her that it sometimes causes weight gain because of hormonal changes or something like that.  (I am no expert and this is all hearsay.)  I would not worry too much about a few pounds, but if you continue to gain, maybe talk to the doctor?  If you want to change your diet/exersise plan, he can tell you a safe way to do it and not cause seizures.

Also, maybe the weight gain is actually a good thing.  Do you feel more muscular?  (As I am sure you know, muscle weighs more than fat.)

Good Luck,

rachel
