Please help! healthier mussle recipe?

Hey guys,

I currently have 4lb of mussles (in the shell) in the fridge ready to turn into moules marienres for me and my boyfriend tomorrow (anniversary treat!).
The problem is, my usuall recipe involves dry white wine and double cream, as well as a HUGE chunk of crusty bread. Pretty much a diet killer.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the calories down a bit? Iv'e still got to put cream in it but was wondering if reduced fat creme fresh or elmlea would do the same job.

Please please help me!!!

I think the cream element will totally push this dish out of limits! Try this

my b/f and I just use a steamer and steam the mussels. a little stronger taste but we love mussels and don't mind. He also melted butter and added garlic to it for dipping. We also used the broth to dip the mussels into and that was pretty tasty.

he used to boil them, I think. Just used a little bit of water, white wine and a bunch of herbs and let them simmer for a few minutes. They always came out fantastic.

Oh steamed mussels are sooooo good. :]
