Please Help Me! I'm In A Rut!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everybody. let me tell you about the last four months of my life. Four months ago, i was 198 pounds (5 feet 7 inches). That was the time where i started to really work out, 5-6 days a week for two hours. I also floated between 1300-1800 calorie days and I felt really good. I have quite a slow metabolism, so after 3 months i was only down to 187. I was really happy with the 11 pound loss, however i sunk into a deep depression because i was/am really sad and angry that i worked soooooo freaking hard for those three months, and i only lost 11 ponds. After that three month mark, i slowly started going downhill.  At first I was still going to the gym 4-5 days a week, but i would eat crap. And now at month four, i go to the gym like one a week, if even that. i really hate myself right now and i feel disgusting that i am being such a pig. I just would really like to get my life back on track. especially seeing as im almost done grade 11 so next year is my last year of highschool and i would love to look hot by the time i graduate. Please Please help me!! i need some advice and encouragement:(

First of all, you are not a bad person because you struggle with weight.  You've already gotten yourself off to a good start, so give yourself a pat on the back.  Okay, so you're averaging a little over 2lbs a month.  That's progress, and slow loss is more permanent than quick loss.  Also, your metabolism may be running slow because you're eating too little for your height, age and activity level.  I'm guessing you're around 16.  According to CC and your stats assuming a goal weight of 160, you should be eating 2090 cal a day to reach your goal by November 2009.  CC tools aren't made for people under 21, so you may need even a little more than that.

I hope this helps, and good luck!  Smile

yes i am 17.

that is really good information.! Thankyou

Hi, Kimberleyjoy.
I'm 18 and have been in a rut too!
... Though for a little longer.
I have a huge problem with eating to fill in time, fill in boredom and depression.
I also seem to have a very, very messed up metabolism!
It would help if we knew what kind of work outs you're doing, though.
2 hours is a long time, but there's a huge caloric difference between walking for 2 hours and 2 hours of vigorous exercise.
If we know how many calories you burn a day on average, we can help recommend how many calories would be a good number to eat.

But anyway...
Perhaps a revamp of your dieting style will help motivate you?
Or trying out some new exercise activities.
For instance, you could try writing a food plan for tomorrow in your journal, then come back the next night and say how you did and whether you stuck to it.
Sometimes that helps for me. :)

But most of all, just remember that you CAN do this!
Keep on working at it and you will eventually find a way that works for you! :)

You have to believe in yourself that you can do it

I know it's hard

i'm having a difficult time too

we gonna get our life back

it's not easy

but we will be fine

=]

gd luck

Thanks for the inspiration guys!

My two hours of workout was not walking, i actually dispise walking lol.

I would do an hour of cardio (switching it up between running, elliptical, stationary, or regular bike) and then an hour of strength training.
