please help slow metabolism...
For a long time i was restricting/overexercising without even intending to.
well today i just had my RMR tested and the results were that i had a slow metabolism.
My height is 5'7 and my weight is 124-5ish.
My numbers were as follows- 1109 calories per day... (thats when my body is at rest)
and then they gave me an average of 330 calories for lifestyle and activity and another 100 calories for exercise..
So my total was around 1500 calories per day....He said this is a slow metabolism... is there anything i can do ab out it? Will my metabolism go up if i eat more. I feel like even now, im only getting like 1200 a day - but i am up 5 lbs since May... Any suggestion... how long til your weight gain evens out?
You should've asked him what you could do, since he is the expert and all aha. But from my knowledge if you start eating correctly again your metabolism will go back to working on its on again. At first you might gain a couple pounds, but thats okay! Don't get discouraged! Just make sure your eating enough. I didn't know your age but I did put your stats in the burn meter thing and it says you should be eating around 1843 calories per day to stay at you curent weight with light activity. So make your goal 1800 calories per day. You deffiantly do not need to loose anymore cause your bmi is at 21.6 which is a healthy weight. I hope this helps!
Eating more will definately help jump start your metabolism. You may find some excessive gains within the first few days of upping calories, but this will balance out and youll likely eventually plateau. Like I am stilling having to increase my calories from time to time - I'm at over 2000 calories a day and I'm still finding I'm plateauing sometimes. This coming from the girl who flipped when she gained 3 lbs in a week after going up to 1000 calories.
Also, not eating the same amount of calories each day will help as well (i.e. if you're eating 1800 standard, try eating about 1850 every other day).
Also, eating regularly every 2-3 hours keeping your metabolism going strong throughout the day. Green tea is also said to help keep it going.
Mostly, just focus on getting lots of good food. The key word here is lots. (:
Good luck!
xx
Have you had your thyroid checked by your doctor? My suggestion is to see your doctor about this and work with them to see what you can do to speed up your metabolism.
