please help me I am about to give up.

Quote  |  Reply

Hi,

Here is my stat

39 years old

height 5.1

weight 115 (Post 3 pregnancy)

goal weight 105 ( before havign children)

lifestyle: active 3 young children, excercise everyday since mid March. I ran about 15 miles/ week. Tennis about 2 hours per week. weight lifting 3 times a week.

I gave up Soda, Sugar in Coffee, sweet, Fried food and everything have to be lowfat.

Problem:

1)I have not losing weight at all since I have started. I am only slightly more tone.

2) The more I exercise the more hungry I've become. I feel like spreading my meals to 6 times a day of 300calorie per meal is not satisfying ( meaning I am still feel hungry after each meal).

I have been eating about 1700 cal/day to have deficit of 500 since mid March.  Have I been eating too much?  Or I am hungry because I need to consume more.

I know I am in healthy range but I would like to get back to my pregnancy body. I am also a runner. I need to be lighter hopefully to be faster.

Please help me what else should I do. I am very discourage and about to give up and accept that this is my weight and move on.

Thanks

You are so close to your goal, it would be maddening to quit at this point.

2)Exercise burns calories, save your biggest (preplanned) meals for post-workout and for gawd's sake, eat more than 300 kcal!  I know some people really believe in many mini meals but they leave me unsatisfied too.  I really like to workout before my big lunch so when I eat it "feels" like binging but it is completely planned and healthy.  (big salad with meat and veggies)

My big meals are around 600 kcal.  I eat 200 kcal breakfast and 2 "big meals".

Also, if you are just running for workout, you may need to "shake it up" and change your cardio workout to challenge your body.  I powerwalk one day and do Billy Blanks' workouts on the other days.

You have a BMR of 1277.45.  (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ to the BMR calulations.  SO you need to eat that if you were to just lay in bed all day.  You must eat at least that each day.  How many calories are you burning each day?  with your small size, you may want to eat closer to 1400.  To stay full, eat more lean protein and fiber.  )according

The closer you get to ideal weight, the harder it can get...so I heard, I am not there yet.

Good Luck, don't give up.

If you've been running, playing sports, and weight lifting I'd guess that the 'extra' weight on you is muscle...not fat. Forgetting the numbers involved...do you like how you look? My personal goal is to get to a point where I'm happy with my body and can wear the clothes I want to...I don't care if I weigh 120, 125 or 130...as long as I have the results I want.

Giving up would make you feel worse.  You are so close to your goal~ congratulations! So what are you going to do when you get to the 105!  As far as the being hungry, find that i graze all day.  i have my 3 meals, but i have 3 snacks in between.  i don't know if that is considered 6 meals, i think it does, but it is easier for me to not feel hungry that way.  sometimes my snacks are within half hour of my meal, but if that is what i need to do to feel satisified I eat.  it also depends on what i eat... if i graze on fruits and veggies like apples, pears, and carrots, i feel less hungry.  Keep us up to date on your progress!!!

Dont give up! its very hard for me too. I want to loose 12 pounds.  Your not alone, Stick in there girl!

You do NOT have to eat your BMR each day.  I wish people would stop saying that.  It simply is not true.

To the originator of the thread.  If you are really close to your goal, then it may become harder to lose that last few pounds, but I hope you don't give up.  That would studying hard for years to get a degree and then quitting just when you are about to graduate.  Hang in there and get that Doctor of Thinology degree. :)

ummmm...yeah ya do...especially when it is so low like hers. be healthy first.

kae03:  There is no "rule" that you have to eat your BMR.  Eating your BMR is only a guideline that people use because it ensures that you are not eating too little and it requires that you exercise more to create a deficit.  Claiming that you have to eat your BMR is not true.  Is it a safe guideline?  Yes.  Is it required?  No.  Besides, she stated that she is already eating above her BMR.

I would love to start by saying congrats on being close to your goal. I know it won't make you feel better, but I do kettlebells three hours a week plus diet. I am postpregnancy also, and I only see the scales going up!!! My clothes still fit, but I want to lose my tummy. My real goal is to just fit into my prepregnancy clothes, and I am close to giving up too. The difference is I started with only 20lbs to lose, and now I have 30!!! So just know you are really close to your goal and others are getting farther and farther away from theirs.

Well, I am even more discouraged than ever now...Since I started taking those pills (profast), I do lose weight. BUT the problem now is, the second I stop taking them I gain the weight all over again!

For example: On the 15th I was at 148, on the 17th I was at 145.5, yesterday I didn't take a pill and today I weigh 147!!!

Now I can't help but think that even if I do lose the weight through diet, exercise, and these pills...I will just gain it all back again. I just don't know what to think or do anymore. Should I just give up on the whole thing?
