Please help me I wanna lose weight but I need help
I had a baby (my beautiful perfect little girl) in december, and I even though I gained 65lbs I wouldn't change it for the world! I love being a Mommy!
Anyways, my daughter is now 6 months old and I weight 175lbs. I weighed 145 pre-pregnancy. I had just gone on a diet and was losing weight prior to getting pregnant but surprise! Well I was put on bedrest halfway through my pregnancy, so sitting on my butt for 4 months you tend to get flabby and well fat! I was only allowed to go the bathroom and shower (I went into labor at 20 weeks and again at 23 weeks but thankfully they stopped labor! And I made it all the way to 39.5 weeks!)
I want to lose 50-55lbs. I am in school Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-4 and only get a lunch break and I try to munch throughout the day. But heres my problem, I tend to "munch" wayy more than I should. But when I get hungry I get headaches, always have and always will!
What I'm really asking is, what should I do to lose weight! I have been working 6 days/week since my daughter was 5 weeks old because my hubby lost his job so I was stressed and stress eating just added onto my weight. But now I am done working because my hubby is back to work, so all I have to worry about is school! So now I can actually workout everyday (plus I can take my daughter to the gym! Woo! daycare! haha).
I don't drink soda. and I can't stand water (I drank SO much when I was pregnant! haha), so I drink a lot of diet lipton green tea and water with crystal lite flavorers which are like 10calories/water bottle. But I don't know what healthy meals I should eat (I only like steak, so no fish or other meats). And I like special K stuff so I don't know.
Also, when should I eat throughout the day? How many meals/snacks? What should I have for my meals/snacks. Also, what are some exercises you suggest to tone my thighs, arms and esp. my fat fat fat stomach and love handles? How long should it take me to lose this weight? I just wanna be skinny again ugh! I was 130lbs 2 years ago, but after 2 miscarriages and then surprise! my daughter! Stress eating, being upset and eating and my bed rest pregnancy! Help help help!
Well, it's healthiest to lose weight at a rate of .5-2 pounds a week. It might take a while, but you can do anything you put your mind to!
Personally, I'm a 'many small meals throughout the day' kind of person. I'm a huge snacker, and this keeps me from getting super hungry.
I suggest adding a ton of veggies to your diet. Fill up half your plate with veggies before adding anything else. They're also great to snack on (I love cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, and cucumber dipped in hummus or low fat salad dressing!). Try to stay away from processed foods. Whole grains (whole wheat pasta, oatmeal, brown rice, etc) are great for you. Fruits are amazing to kill that sweet craving (especially strawberries!).
Go to 'tools' at the top of your page and find out your BMR, and see how many calories a day they suggest. It depends on your height, age, and weight/goal weight. Caloriecount has a lot of great tools, so use them!
Keep a food diary (aka, log ALL of your food into your food log) and it helps you keep on track.
Good luck! :)
Hiya!
We sound like similar eaters. Not to bore you with my life story, but I was between 130-45 most of my adult life and then stress befell me and I simultaneously quit working out and I got up to 210. I am now back in the 140-50 range. It sounds like you may be hypoglycemic when you are having those headaches. It happens to my mom and I both. Here's the kicker, even though you are probably getting headaches because of low blood sugar, the more refined carbs you have, the more volatile your blood sugar becomes. I agree with the previous post. Use the tools, find your BMI, etc. But I have a few things to add, things that help me keep my weight down.
- plenty of sleep (of course with a baby this may not be feasible)
- avoid processed carbs, cereal, candy, anything with corn syrup especially, the first 3 days are rough, but it gets easier
- embrace protein, find a chocolate protein shake that's sugar free that you can stand and work it into your meal plan.
- make a meal/snack plan and stick to it, whatever works for you
- measure/weigh everything you eat and log it religiously even when you fall off the wagon
- try not to weigh yourself more than once a week
- when you want to munch on something that's not on your meal plan or it's not time yet to eat, etc., tell yourself to go on a short walk first, not that you can't have it, you just need to walk first. Light exercise can help your blood sugar level out
- take it one step at a time, I tend to want to say the whole day is ruined and gorge myself if I eat too much in a moment of weakness/etc
- also, this came up in another post, non starchy veggies are great, but can lead to bloating/gas, Beano is a life saver and doesn't normally lead to an upset stomach
- light strength training, you won't get big like a guy and it helps in so many ways, you feel better, are stronger, less prone to low blood sugar and it lets you eat more calories (muscle takes more calories to maintain than fat)
- last but not least, keep chatting with us, we are all in the same boat and the support can really be helpful
Good Luck!
