What gives, please help me get this whole thing....

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there.  i recently lost 20 pounds and I am looking to loose another 30 to be at my goal weight.  I exercise 6 days a week consisting of cardio classes at the gym to running, jogging or fast walking on my treadmill either choosing one or some days 2 and 1/2 hours of the above.  One of the classes that i attend 3 days a week is a cardio weight class so i am getting in some good weight training.

Within my diet I was undereating my calories and through this board I learned to bump up my calorie intake due to the amount of exercise I am doing.  I was eating mostly protein only for a week and then adding veggies.

I used the food log and calorie counter and I GAINED 2 pounds....

I have a goal that I would like to reach within 5 weeks of approx. 10 lbs....

Where should I go next?

Thank you in advance!!!

Have you been going to the bathroom regularly lately? Maybe the extra food is accumulating in your digestive tract.

PS. I would have never replied what I have if it weren't for what I just read a couple of posts down! Take a peak at the 'strange weight loss' thread.

:)

You said you were eating mostly protein and veggies, what are you eating now? Have you added in carbs?

You didn't say anything about weights.  Muscles help burn calories.  Maybe if you add a little bit of weight training, you could burn more calories.

I am doing a cardio weight class 3 times a week and as far as the bathroom, it has always been an issue and I have to take something to actually make this happen....(embarrassed).

I have added carbs to my meal plan with fruit and usually a whole wheat wrap.

I have been taking fish oil capsules for the last few weeks.  It really helps get things going for me...if you know what I mean.Laughing

I think that I might start adding that to my diet...Embarassed

I'm not sure exactly how many carbs you're eating now but going from eating almost no carbs to an appropriate amount of carbs is a surefire way to gain weight, that's why I would never suggest to anyone cutting them down so low to begin with. It might take your body a little while to adjust to burning carbs for fuel again. I am no authority, of course, but it's one possibility.
