I'd say look at the link of high calorie foods at the top of the forum, Spek. But any kind of nut or nut butter, avocado, whole fat dairy (milk, cheese and yoghurt particularly), healthy oil, dried fruits (dates and figs are higher than others).

Hi seed and nut bars nutritionally good and balanced but high in calories or a flapjack is a good calorie booster, especially one with lots of dried fruit, nuts and honey with a dark chocolate toping, they are very high and totally deliscious. Good luck love and light astralhippy Sue XXXXXXXXXXX

Hey Spek!  My favorite high calorie drink is chocolate milk (200 calories for a cup) and my favorite high calorie food is trail mix (340 calories for a half cup).  But you could always just have eight tablespoons (a half cup) of peanut butter for 760 calories.  Or even a quarter cup of peanut butter for 380 calories, about twice that of the trail mix.

Hope I helped. :)

An Ensure plus always helped me. Seriously. Those things saved my life, especially when I was still freaking out about calories/gaining. I would chug it and forget about it.

i agree with nuts.  or if you have a sweet tooth: nutella.  yum...  or an avocado.

I agree with the nut butter stuff.  Also try Sunflower Seed Butter (Sunbutter) adn sunflower seeds.

Ensure and other protien shakes tend to be high in calorie, but be careful of the protein content.

thanks alot guys.... i was wondering......does it mattter to eat over 1000 calories in the course of about 1 hr?

People already said Ensure and nuts...

Whole cottage cheese is good, too.

Google "body building", and you'll be presented with a slue of high calorie powders/bars/shakes. All of these items are fairly low in bulk, but extremely high in nutrition!

For starters, I would highly reccomend visting http://www.cytosport.com. This website contains very efficent products. My favorite would most likely be the Muscle Milk line. There bars contain roughly 300 calories with plenty of protein, and they are VERY tiny!

The shakes are SO GOOD, and have 240 calories. Also, you can buy the powder and mix it with full fat cottage cheese, which all toll, equates to 1/2 cup of food for 420 calories!

And best of all, these products are SO delicouse!

Gggeenerally, from a personal point of view, I don't think gainer shakes should be necessary unless it's a dire situation. But I also don't know what situation Spek is in right now. Still. I've heard chocolate protein powder makes good brownies. o__O;

Egg Nog?

over 1000 calories in an hour is not a problem AT ALL. ESPECIALLY when you're trying to gain. honestly, pack in as much as you can. It'll only help you gain, get healthy, and forget about dieting faster.

  • you can find granola's with 300 calories per 1/2 cup serving
  • 1/2 cup of almonds has about 250 calories
  • Just 1 TB of olive oil has 120 calories
  • 4 oz of chicken salad (with mayo) has around 225 calories
  • 2 hostess ding dongs (cream filled chocolate) has 350 calories
  • 1/2 cup of haagen dazs ice cream has 270 calories
  • 3 Ho Ho's are 370 calories
  • 1 large muffin is typically 400-500 calories
  • Odwalla Bars are 230 calories
  • Powerbar Protein Plus Bars are 300 calories
  • ProMax bars are 300 calories
  • 3 blocks dark chocolate is 210 calories
  • chocolate whole milk is 210 calories for 1 cup
  • 4 TB of nut butter is aprox. 400 calories
  • 1/2 cup of trail mix is 275 calories
  • 1 large plain bagel is 350 calories
  • An original Butterfinger is 270 calories
Good luck!  Condensing your food really is the key to gaining weight comfortably.

Swimfan had a lot of food ideas, although I'd leave out the Ding Dongs and Ho Ho's if I were you. ;)

Nuts, oils, seeds, Lara bars, dried fruits, and most grains (rice, pasta, etc.) are pretty caloric.
