Holbee, have you read the news recently?
FDA advised people to stay away from PPB and any product that has it because of the salmonella.
yeah i was on that thread, im in australia hoping it won't effect me.
even if it does...id like some recipes for future referrence, i have some in the cuboard and want creative ways to use it, it's not like im going to throw out a perfectly good jar of precious PB lol :P we've been on this jar a while now and we seem fine, i havent heard anything about it on our news.
the FDA said jarred PB is ok.
they said to stay away from cookies, crackers, etc that have PB
meh, doesn't effect me anyway yays!
does anyone have any peanut butter recipes though? it seems to be a really popular thing im supprised no ones posted
I had a very delicious dessert that involved peanut butter. Yum, just logged on to log it and I shall share the recipe with you. =)
1/2 a banana, sliced down the middle length-wise
1tbs peanut butter
1 block of chocolate (or a couple of tbs choccy chips)
Preheat the oven to 400F. Place a square of aluminum foil onto a small baking pan, and put your banana on the foil. Smear peanut butter over it, and sprinkle with choccy. Seal foil packet and bake about fifteen minutes, or until gooey.
I served mine with a scoop of (soy) ice cream and a cinnamon-ginger cookie, and a couple of crushed meringues on it. ^_^
For just the banana, peanut butter, and choccy (using 55g banana, 14g peanut butter, and 10g of choccy) it came out to about 180cal.
It was...wow. x)
A while ago at work we had a pot luck lunch, and a woman brought in these cookie things that tasted exactly like the inside of a butterfinger bar. I STALKED her for the recipe. Here is the same thing that I copied from cooks.com:
NO - BAKE CRUNCHES
1/4 c. peanut butter
1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips
4 c. corn flakes, crushed
Slowly melt peanut butter and butterscotch chips. Place crushed corn flakes in a large bowl. Pour peanut butter mixture over corn flakes; stir until well mixed. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper; let cool. Yields 24 pieces.
Bonus is that those are no bake, and I have dipped them in chocolate as well. They were sooo good.
Also, here is an awesome flourless peanut butter cookie recipe:
1 c. peanut butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 lg. egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. semisweet choc. chips
1/2 c. roasted salted peanuts
Mix all ingredients and shape into small balls (1 tbsp) with wet hands. Bake 12-14 min. at 350 degrees (cookies will be puffed up and will flatten out a bit). I have left out the peanuts and choc. many times, and I have used chunky pb. I love these cookies.
Enjoy!
omg, they both look sooo good :P
*drools*
does anyone know how to make their own peanut butter?
I believe the general process is to put peanuts in a strong blender or food processor, and process until smooth/crunchy. There's enough oil in them to keep things going. Voila!
I've found that by making my own peanut butter as described by torli, it's not worth the effort to clean up the mess. And it separates and goes rancid if not eaten fairly quickly.
I really like stirring peanut butter into spicy stirfires, I know it sounds abit weird, but it tastes really good.
A family favorite snack is PBHO (Peanut Butter Honey Oats)
1. Put some peanut butter in a bowl. 2. Pour some honey on it. 3. Throw in a handful of rolled oats. 4. Stir well. 5. Eat.
Aagh now I want it!!!
lol i'd eat the Peanut butter pretty quickly if i were to make it myself :P no problem there.
dondons, isnt when you stir it into a meal like stirfry just satay?
omg thanks you miseric, that looks really simple no cooking or anything...i've found my lunch!!
thanks xo

Find non-cookie, "obvious" peanut butter recipes on-site by typing into the Search box:

Our home ec teacher lets us make these in class, we call them "snoopie snacks", i dont know why but they are AMAZING! :D
Warm up peanut butter, chocolate chips, and a little butter/margarine in the microwave and stir, then microwave a little more until chocolate chips are melted. Then pour in a cup or two of rice krispys(or any other plainish cereal) and mix. Then roll into balls, put on a plate, and freeze!
It doesnt matter how much pb/chocolate/rice krispies you use. Use as much as you like until it tastes good to you!
Not the healthiest or low anything recipe but it is amazingly delicious.
thanks all :P
they look nice and the kraft foods website is quite a jackpot even though your recipe is pretty good too
This is delicious:
Chicken in Peanut Sauce
1 med onion, chopped
16 ozs boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
29 oz can diced tomatoes, drained, juice reserved
3 tbsps creamy peanut butter (I use natural creamy PB)
1/4 c fresh cilantro or parsley, packed
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
2 c hot cooked rice
Coat a large skillet with nonstick spray and warm over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until soft. Season chicken with half the salt, all the paprika and black pepper. Add to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until browned. Meanwhile, in a food processor or blender, combine the reserved tomato juice, peanut butter, cilantro, garlic, red pepper and remaining salt. Blend until smooth. Pour over the chicken and add the tomatoes. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until chicken is cooked. Serve over rice.

Glad you liked it! Like I said it's a favorite family snack, I have one lil bro who eats it all the time, evidenced by bowls and spoons with pb residue on them by the computer, on his dresser, in or under his bed, you get the idea. LOL It's simplicity is one of the great things about it.
