Please remind me why I shouldn't pick up a package of cinnamon rolls.
I have a terrible habit of binging, especially at night. One thing I do, almost nightly, is tell myself that my binge is a 'last hurrah,' and that I'll start eating better tomorrow. I don't know how I fool myself on practically a daily basis, but I do. I'm sitting here at work making up my grocery list, and already I'm salivating thinking about picking up a 4-pack of cinnamon rolls. Intellectually I know what a horrible idea this is, but I guess maybe i need a kick in the butt. Can anyone help?
it's not worth it!! pick up something else you enjoy that is lower calorie and healthier!
avoid that section of the store. go in and out as fast as you can. I totally know what you are talking about. I'm feeling the need for that kick in the butt too
When you decide it's time to make a change you will change. Everyone has a different reason why they don't pick up the package of cinnamon buns and you will have to figure out why you shouldn't pick up the cinnamon buns for yourself.... sorry :( On the bright side you won't be alone with whatever choice you make, there are people here on both sides of the cinnamon bun dilemma. Good luck to you
* I am on the side that doesn't pick up the cinnamon buns.. or cocoa puffs ;)
I have been the urges to binge at night and it is on the lamest crap that I know shouldn't be going into my body. What i did is set up a reward system. I have never tried it and it is going well so far. I also weighed myself and the 15!! pound gain has made me very upset. I also looked at pictures of myself a year ago and that is motivation enough to stop eating all that crap food. I know what i can look like and I know that I can feel good about myself. Wanting to feel good about myself feels better then shoveling food into my mouth.
I have the same habit and I know exactly where you're coming from! Instead of treating myself to buns/rolls/whatever I buy something else (not necessarliy food) that I wouldn't normally and convince myself that's my only treat. I also try to avoid the isles with these items as I'm much less likely to give in if I just don't see them. At the same time if I've eaten within my limit for the day I'll sometimes get a roll or something but in a single serve rather than the multipack - this way it fits into my calorie allowance and stops me craving them and binging when I'm upset, frustrated etc, hope this helps!
I try to just delay it, you know how "well tonight is my last hurrah, i wont do it again" doesnt really work? so I say to myself "well tonight I wont have it, but maybe if I am good today and tomorrow I can get them then." And then when that day comes I try to say "well I did so well the past day, I bet I can go another day without them." And just keep going.
For me, as soon as I take the first taste of whatever I am finding myself tripping over, I am done for. I have to keep making it a goal to attain to be allowed to have it, rather than a hump that I get to take a free ride on before I really start.
If that made sense, sorry I am exhausted.
Thanks for the advice and the kicks.
And hey, if I know I have to be accountable here maybe that'll help keep me from getting them too.
I'm the queen of, "I'll be really good tomorrow if I can have this today" Before really getting serious about loosing weight I'd always pig out and tell myself I'll start eating well tomorrow, but I had to make myself realize that tomorrow isn't good enough. I have to start today and every day.
It is OK to have small splurges or treats every so often. I know I could never go with a diet that didn't allow that every now and then, but you have to be in control of it.
Yes...instead of saying what you cant...say what you can...dont eliminate it just change the amount and frequency...an example would be instead of eating ALL 4 cinnamon rolls just have 1 with some fruit....and if possible replace it completely with something healthier e.g., fruit Again dont give up something...especially if it will keep you from working on your ultimate goal...being healthier....
Try and think of alternatives to the junk food that you want. for instance, instead of getting cinnamon buns get cinnamon bread (a lot lower in calories and fat). Or if you just have to have a certain food (sometimes light or healthy versions of foods just don't cut it!), instead of getting a whole package try and get just one serving. If you're craving cheesecake instead of getting a whole one at the bakery maybe get a slice to go from your favourite restaurant (that way too, you'd be less likely to order other food, since you'd just be picking the item up and going rather than sitting down).
And as for craving foods at night, keeping yourself occupied with something can help. I know sometimes I have the tendency to eat late at night. I've been known to tell myself lame excuses, especially if its after midnight ("Oh, well, technically, it is a new day, so all that junk I ate earlier is in the past...") Just try taking things one step at a time by slowly cutting back on the on the night binges and remind yourself of your goals.
Hostess has 100-calorie packs of cinnamon streusel muffins - kind of similar for that specific craving. I don't know what to do about night cravings, they plague me sometimes too. It helps if I plan to have a little something like a tofutti cutie at night.
Well, I went shopping and I didn't get the cinnamon rolls.
I wanted something sweet though, and I could afford a few more calories, so I had a Clif bar instead. I'm going to bed soon, so that's one night down, all the rest of them to go.
Good job breaking the cinnamon bun train for a night.
It is never tomorrow; it is always today.
I have recently been craving a dessert-like thing at night. I got some of these individually wrapped sundae thingys and have one a night. Maybe there is an individually wrapped version, so you don't have to get 4 of them and those 3 looking so lost and lonely have to go join their comrade in your belly.
I go to the store almost every day because I buy fresh fruit and veggies and am constantly running out of something. Maybe there is the one bun option at the bakery counter. 1 is better than 4. 0 might also be an option most of the time, and it is great you took that path tonight.
I wasnt totally thinking this through but there is another alternative to purchasing the unhealthy version cinnamon bun which is if you can bake/cook find a low calorie/low fat recipe online and make your own...you can then freeze the others...or you could take the low calorie cinnamon raisin bread and toast it...much lower in calorie and it might satisfy the cinnamon craving....
ive heard that setting yourself a target can help with binge eating... e.g. dont be negative about it...
firstly maybe (these are just suggestions) perhaps, say if i eat that then i cant fit into that dress... dont tell yourself you cant have it... cos i do that and end up wanting it more...
secondly.... if u do want one... just have the one... from the counter where you select it.... dont buy a packet that has more than one in it...
i dont know... im not expert but it may help... good luck x
I am one that always gives in to that craving and tell myself well tomorrow is a new day and then tomorrow comes and I feel like crap and I kick myself for binging on whatever it was in the first place. I do allow myself treats though in my daily calorie count..I think it is crucial on a successful plan to weight loss...if you deprive yourself for too long you are setting yourself up for disaster. If you want a cinnamon bun..have one and log it in your calorie count..if you have two well than log that as well..it may be your only meals for the day..if thats what you really want. I do fall victim like I said to the occasional binge where I go overboard..I am only human. I also second the 100 calorie cinnamon struesel muffins..I myself buy the 100 cal hostess cupcakes..saw banana ones yesterday but left them on the shelf as I have too many snacks in the house this week and I can hear them all calling me from the kitchen! Having a bad week. Well whatever you decide I hope this helped somewhat :0)

This is a great idea... one I choose often, but not too often, but often enough to be hanging out here..lol

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
