Plumbing issues

Alright, well... this is a little embarassing, but hey- it's life.
Usually I'm pretty regular, but all of a sudden it's been 2 days since I've had a bowel movement. I've been eating plenty of fibre and around 2000 calories a day (well... maybe more yesterday- I had a piece of cake and a frappucino) and I took some metamucil a few hours ago but nothing has happened. It's kind of irritating, especially as my stomach is ridiculously bloated atm from it and my weight is up by 5lbs as of late morning- I haven't weighed since and I dont want to until I'm cleared out!
Has this happened to any of you at all and does anyone have tips?

When losing weight, apparently that can happen, not sure why. But, a cheap easy solution. Buy a box of Wheat Bran for a buck, and put lots on cereal, etc. That'll do it. Of course if it continues, see a doctor. Apparently those other products might help a bit, but once you stop taking them, its back even worse. A box of Wheat Bran for a buck works wonders, for pennies a day.

Thanks! I've actually got some oat bran on hand... Not wheat bran but its pretty darn high in fibre. I guess that's breakfast! Do you think not eating meat for uh... about a week could do it? I only eat fish but I havent even had that for a goodly while- Shark tomorow though :P

one can't really speculate about the cause, it could be anything. But if you are eating less calories, the body sometimes adjusts?

sure Oat Bran is good, lets face it, bran is bran. I mention wheat bran as its so cheap, and all these "products" are always trying to rip people off. A box of wheat bran, sometimes in the baking section, is about a buck. But mix it with other grains, as by itself, its inedible. Try it, you chew, and nothing happens! But it clears the pipes. I just put a few tablespoons into the hot cereal.

also,  lots of green veggies too, like steamed collards are great.

PS, if  it were me, I might make sure I eat a little at each meal, even before bed. that stuff has to go right through you.

If you don't actually feel sick, then it's probably a temporary thing. Could be a change in diet, hormonal issues, or just your guts being ornery for no real reason.

Are you getting enough fluid? If not, that can cause constipation. And you probably don't need more fiber - plus, Metamucil doesn't work immediately.

What normally helps me is to drink a large cup of warm coffee or tea. If you don't take in caffeine, herbal tea will also help, though not quite as much. The combination of the temperature, the liquid, and caffeine (except with herbal tea) functions as a very mild laxative. And at least for me it can work in 10-15 minutes.
When I ate a lot of fiber without also increasing my water intake, I had some constipation too. Maybe you're not drinking enough water?
Caffeine, as little as a cup or two of coffee, can also help get things moving
I'm having a similar problem... just don't eat too much fiber right away, as you'll end up bloated and gassy. ugh.  fiber doesn't work overnight, just gradually add more.
I had this problem as well when I started and it was four days without any sign and I thought I was about to explode in the stomach!  I went to the dr who said that my body was packing a sad over me not eating all the bad stuff it was used to me eating and it would take a while to adjust.

He suggested caffine, prune juice and having your legs raised when you try to go like on a low stool (excuse the pun!).  He also suggested having a warm shower and lettng the shower run on the small of your back - apparently that helps stimulate the blockage.  The shower one worked!

Don't worry you will eventually go - I did!!  It fixes itself in the end when you body realises your doing something good.
i have ibs, so i am usually constipated or go in small amounts a couple times a day. i can only seem to really use the bathroom really good on a saturday or sunday morning when i drink a cup of coffee on an emptry stomach. i have to be very very relaxed and it has to be quite in order for me to go!! i dont know why so it is very difficult to go during the week properly b/c usually at work and too loud there! i know it is weird but this is how i am. i the coffee is the best thing for me. sometimes like this week i can really be in pain. my stomach distends and i can eat on cracker and feel i just had a a huge thanksgiving dinner! crazy.

Can I drink coffee without raising my sodium intake?

With only 5 milligrams of sodium per 8-ounce cup, coffee is considered to be a very low sodium food. Additions to coffee, such as small amounts of milk... Read more
