7pm Nighttime Munchies...What Do You Do?

Quote  |  Reply
I don't know about you but I can do great all day long but about 7 or 8pm I want to snack on everything in site. If only I could find a way to get past that!

What helpful suggestions help you get through the evening without too much damage?

cold crunchy veggies like radishes and cucumber.
That sounds wonderful but I am the oldest living human with braces and can't do really crunchy foods or my brackets will pop off! Oh how I long for the day I can bite into an apple without cutting it into small little pieces! I only have to get to October! :)

Do you crave sweets? I wish I didn't!
i made it a rule for myself that i couldn't eat past 7:30. they say it takes 21 times to do something to make it a habit. sure munching on vegetables can help but in the end you may just end up consuming the same amount of cals in vegetables as you would of having that sweet. because no matter what your mind will always drift back to that sweet. just takes discipline. go outside for a walk. take a shower. chew gum. GET AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN!! good luck
WATER

yogurt, low cal pudding, applesauce, and oh - there was a recipe here a while back using cauliflower - I havent tried it yet, but you boil it and mash it up and then add yogurt and I forget what else and its supposed to be really good like mashed potatoes.
You are absolutely right about not eating in the evening! I need to get back to enjoying having a nice cup of tea at night!
ooooh tea is an excellent choice, I'm gonna have some right now. it works.
What kind of tea do you enjoy? In the evening I really like the Celestial Seasonings brand called Tension Tamer but I also like Camomile. During the day I love Green Tea or Earl Grey is a great pick me up! Someone told me the other day that there is even chocolate and vanilla tea now!
brush && floss. or get a piece of gum and start chewing...
i go to bed because i'll be damned if i am going to mess up after a perfect day. :)
anything herbal - even cinnamon, ginger, fruit teas are good too.

I like to have a cup of hot tea in the evening..It helps me get through the night..My favorite tea is Tazo Calm Herbal Infusion Caffeine free....

Having a cup of hot tea and watching my favorite show(kyle xy)..

wonderful!!!
What kind of braces do you have? I had metal brackets, and no cut-up cucumber was too crunchy for me. :) Popcorn was a no-no though.
Herbal tea is what I usually try to do if I'm craving something sweet.

nods

save some cals for after 8 pm. the "don't eat after a certain hour" is totally bogus. Here we have dinner at 9 pm, and everyone is slim but me.
WATER, it fills you up. -Or find an activity that will keep your mind off of FOOD.

well tea/coffee/water/milk/diet drinks could be helpful ..

hmm .. well if you're actually hungry, don't force yourself to eat small snacks, just eat something like a light dinner so you feel full .. something with lots of vegetables and some protein will definitely hold off the hunger

other than that, some other small snacks could be yogurt, applesauce (like those mentioned above, and fruits & veggies
Unless for some reason my routine is thrown off, I don't eat past 7 PM.  I used to be a night-binger, so I just can't come near food past a certain time.  After a while you get used to it.  :)
How about keeping grapes in the freezer? You get the sweetness and by the time you're done sucking on a few your craving should pass. Also, pickles help me - 5 cals each and after one it takes care of any craving I may have.
i usually only eat supper around 8 pm and then i have a bedtime snack at 11 and it hasn't affected my weight at all... i think if you're hungry and have calories left then eat..
