PMS binges!!

Quote  |  Reply
I've been feeling really hungry easily these days, because of PMS. Usually I wouldn't feel hungry in the afternoon, but this week I've been fighting with my hunger so hard! Sometimes I managed to control my cravings (mostly sweet cravings), but sometimse I just couldn't control myself and kind of binged at dinner.

I know it's normal for one to feel hungry easier when PMS strikes, but do you let yourself eat more, or just let go? Ugh I hate being a girl!

I am the opposite, I lose my appetite.... I also increase water intake, that maybe why I don't binge.

Being a women has advantages.  But I know what you mean.

Take care
My PMS cravings are out of this world, and if I don't give in to them I go to bed crying. I just can't help it, they actually aren't counterproductive because it's not like I eat all the food I would eat in a normal day, I just eat what I am craving.

If I am craving chocolate I do eat chocolate until I am sick of it, and I know that isn't healthy, but that's life. I just throw in some fruit and a vitamin. It actually adds up to less calories than a normal day.

My cravings:   (Remember these last for 2 weeks or longer in my system)

  • Chocolate
  • Pizza
  • Chicken
  • Fruit
  • Salt
That is pretty much my top cravings. I generally don't give into the salt one because I don't like salty foods that much. I hate chips. I hate pretzels, unless they are covered in chocolate ;)

Okay I know this wasn't much help, let me see.

You should allow yourself to have SOME of your craving, because lets face it, PMS is hard enough, at least for me it is. You can still work your calories around what you are craving, and keep within range.

If you are craving chocolate but don't have much room left for calories and you are STARVING may I make a suggestion.

NESQUICK chocolate, it is only 90 calories for 3 tablespoons, loaded with vitamins and is very filling with hot water and skim milk. I drink mine without the milk though, I hate milk, but my boyfriend puts skim milk in his.

Just have a big steamy mug of that before going to bed and you will feel so full. If it isn't chocolaty enough for you then throw in a little mini hershey's bar of chocolate, and it will melt in there for a little added treat. :)

Tink
Are these monthly cravings mental? Because I crave all kinds of foods!! Sweet, salt, all of it! Anything that has carbs!!

Fight the crave!!! Fight it girl!!!
i've been having insane hungry pangs this week b/c of PMS so i feel you pain! i bring all my food to work with me each day, but lately i've found that i'm eating everything by noon! for example, it's only 11am and i already ate my lunch! it's so hard to tell if my body really is hungry, or it's all mental - my stomach growls, but that doesn't really mean anything. it growls just when i'm bored and then i THINK i'm hungry. how do you curb the cravings and hunger pangs???
I crave anything starchy. Bread, bagels, chips, fries, cake, cookies. It's aaaaawful.  I'm in the middle of it and yesterday I caved and had a bagel, piece of white cake, Fig Newmans (wee better than Fig Newtons), potato chips and blue corn chips. Yeah, there was a veggie burger, some greens, some grilled chicken, an apple and a mango in there too. But normally that's all there is - not all the other crap.  Today I'm walking around with 3 extra pounds of bloat. Ew.
Ugh- I try fat free hot cocoa/ or sugar free chocolate pudding or pickles depending on what I'm craving...sometimes it helps..hang in there
O man, I'm pmsing so bad, and all I want is some choclate and ice cream!

Ugh! I can almost taste it!
I have murderous cravings, resistance is futile kind where I eat everything in site and if there is nothing, I bite my husband (jk).  Since having an empty fridge as means of preventing binging doesn't work, we try to load up on "healthy" stuff: frozen berries instead of ice-cream, light raisin bread instead of cake, protein bars instead of chocolate.  It doesn't always stop me from overloading but at least I manage to keep it under 2K calorie range vs. over 3K that I used to do before.
hugs to you.  i know how you feel.  some days i feel like no matter what i eat, i'll never feel full.  it's not true but the feeling seems so real.  i try to stick to my normal food routine but i might add one or two extras if i really need it.  or i might change a meal - for example i don't eat pasta much but at this time i might have spag bol or something richer and heavier than i'd normally eat.
