I've lost 6.5 lbs since I started counting my calories 2 weeks ago. They recommend that I lose 0.5-2 lbs per week. Of course I love the rapid weight loss, but am I causing potential health problems for myself?

You're fine.  Most people lose rapidly their first two weeks on a weight loss program.  The more you weigh, the faster you'll lose in the beginning.   The weight is mostly water weight, so nothing bad.

For instance I lost 10 lbs my first two weeks.  Now I'm on a .5 to 1.5 loss depending on when and how my body decides to release.

How much are you eating? How much are you drinking? How much weight have you got to lose?

There are a million different reasons you are losing the weight that fast, but I am willing to bet that it is because you have just started out - the more weight you have to lose, the easier it comes off... also, you will lose some water weight in that initial loss too.

There is, of course, a chance you have eaten too little, but I can't really pass judgement on that since I have no stats...

if this is a new diet for you and you've had some not so good habits beforehand - you're ok. most people lose a lot of weight after just starting a new diet and then it levels out to the closer you are to your goal.

I'm female, 23

started at 173 (13 days ago)

now at 166.5

Goal 140

I'm not too worried, I'm actually really pumped that I'm seeing results so soon! It motivates me to keep going!

I am so jealous, but yeah keep with it. If your weightloss slows down don't get discourage.

good for you JM!

most diets that i have been on...it took me forever to lose.

when my husband and i did atkins back in 2002. in 6 weeks we both lost 20 pounds. the first week i lost nothing...he lost 6. the second week. i lost 12 and he lost another 6. after that we were pretty much nose to nose after that and steady.

but the week i didn't lose, i lost inches. doing CC, i enjoy SO much more. nothing is restictive. i love the people here. everyone is very nice and friendly.

the only thing that really bothered me was...(because my husband wasn't as over weight as me)...everyone noticed his weightloss right away. me? they never noticed. people never believed that i did atkins. they thought it was yak. i felt the difference in my clothes (i had lost overall 13 inches), but i could not even see it on my own person. UNTIL...i did a picture comparison...wow...what a difference then. but again, it is giving up things, and with CC...no more giving up anything. never again.

thank you CC, and everyone!

Smile
