Any pointers for getting rid of pain after weight training.
So my arms are killin me for lifting weights the other day. No pain no gain, right? Well I used to drink some of the amino fuel after a work out about 2 tbsp but I'm a vegan now. For what I can tell it his whey and other animal proteins in it. Anyone know of a vegan supplement products I can take after I workout?
I dont' know anything about supplements for post-workout pain, but I do know the best way to decrease overall pain after a workout is stretching followed by ice - especially if you have very specific pain.
After a hard workout, I even take an ice bath for 5-10 minutes. It's not fun, but I feel SO much better afterwards, and the next day.
I've just gotten used to being sore constantly right now... Is it a sharp pain or just a deep muscle ache? You want to be sure you haven't hurt anything.
take a really hot bath..as hot as you can stand.....then stay in it until the water no longer feels hot, but warm. atleast 45 minute to an hour
It's soreness pain. It means I'm working my butt off. I used to take amino fuel after I worked out but now I'm a vegan. I always take a nice long hot shower after I work out. I don't want my pores to get grossness in them and break out.
In general food is better for you, but immediately prior to and after exercise, it does help to get in some quick-acting proteins. I don't have any specific brand recommendations for you since they all work more or less the same, but I'm pretty sure you can find soy-based formulations at both WalMart and GNC.
Melkor you rock. You always have the answers to my questions![]()
Am I way out of line by suggesting some ibuprofen? Once you get used to doing a weight routine I've found the soreness isn't anything that bad. It's just that first workout that's a killer, but then again everyone is different!
I try not to take medicines if possible. I'm an ex pill popper and I think we are so quick to pop a pill for something. and not to mention the side effects. I like to use natural methods if possible.

AH, ok. Ignore me!
(I'm not being sarcastic, I agree with you)
I have found a rice sock works well in easing the pain. I use them for everything, headaches, muscle aches, backbone, even sinus issue on occasion. Using regular (uncooked) rice, fill a tube sock, knot the end, stick it in Microwave for 3-5 minutes, careful it WILL be HOT, lay it on sore area and relax. I still have to use the ibuprofen for tension headaches, but this works for all others.
Vitamin C from acidic fruits and Tonic water (with Quinine) - there has ben some research that suggest they both aid in muscle recovery.
u shud check out myprotein.com they offer vegetarian protein and vegan protein. they offer hemp protein which vegans can have i would definetly reccommend it i use their protein all the time and it tastes great!!
