Pokey Sticks from Gumby's Pizza

Quote  |  Reply

Anyone know what kind of caloric/nutritional content these guys have? I realize that its not very high (value-wise, but not low, calorie-wise!), but sometimes friends order them, or they are free, etc, and its a nice treat, but I don't want to over-induldge, you know?  I'm not sure if each one is closer to 200 calories or 300 calories, but that makes a big difference, as 3x200 = 600 for dinner vs. 3x300 = 900 for dinner..... you know?

I have no idea what Pokey Sticks are, so I can't help you. Can you describe them or tell us what's in them at all?

Oh my gosh! I have no idea...but what a cute name! lol

Sorry, I know..not helpful.

Haha, pokey sticks... in essence, they are bread sticks stuffed with mozzerella cheese.

In my head, I'm comparing the cheese to string cheese... although a bit longer, so instead of .75 oz, probably 1 or 1.25 oz.... so that's around 80-100 calories... then there's the bread that's wrapped around it, and I'm ALWAYS bad at estimating bread. and then its brushed with garlic butter, so probably 50 calories for that...

I'm at about 1300 and I've got 1800 to typically "spend" so today I'll probably just have 2... (I had an apple as well, to curb my desires!)

Too bad nobody posts their nutritional information online.... it should be federal law.... *sigh*

I think you are going about it the right way. I would probably just find something similar, like bread sticks from pizza hut or domino's because I think you can factor in the butter sauce that way and then add in the cheese like you already have. The best you can do is estimate and try to be honest about what you believe you ate....they sound good though. I'm glad there isn't a Gumby's Pizza here!

I just want to say that I LOVE these! :)

Imagining the little red horse's legs as the "Pokey Sticks", wondering if the Gumby pizza is green?

I work at a Gumby's Pizza... and I don't even know the nutrition information. Makes it hard to figure my calories when I have a snack at work. Gumby's are known to only exist in college towns where people don't care about calories... so they can get away with not posting their info.

I used to manage a Gumby's when I was in college, and while I don't know the exact amount, I can tell you that there is nothing good about them as far as nutrition or calories!! The butter that is used to brush on top of them is basically just grease mixed with margarine. I used to have to make the butter and it smelled so bad and grossed me out so much, I bribed my boss to do it for me. A friend once told me that it's grease similar to what you'd find in grease traps in restaurants. Girls used to call and order a small pokey sticks and a diet coke because "I'm on a diet," and we would all crack up because a small pokey sticks should probably be all you eat all day!!

That being said, I'd imagine 1 or 2 shouldn't hurt every once in a while!
