Polar F4 or F6??

Quote  |  Reply

I really REALLY want to get a Polar Heart rate monitor but I'm not sure if I should get a F4 or F6.  Cheaper is obviously always better but I don't want to be sacrificing quality.  I'd only be using it to count calories and monitor HR during a workout.  Does anyone use either of these and could you tell me what you think of them?

I have the F6 and love it!!  I have not tried the F4, so I am not sure of the differences between the two. I bought the F6 for more accuracy of calories burned then relying on the machines. The F6 allows you to design your own workout program. It monitors your heart rate as far as your average heart rate,  and your maximum heart rate, and based off of those, how many of the calories you burned were from "fat" calories. It tells you how many minutes you were in the zone, how your intensity level was (low, moderate, hard) and time spent in each level so you know if you need to speed up the intensity or slow it down. It keeps files so you can keep track. At the end of each week, it lets you know if you hit your goal as far as if you hit your targets for the program you created...

For the money, I think its a fantastic investment.

Hmm.I have an F6, its awesome. Bought it on Ebay for 66 bucks. They retail for 110 bucks. Does the F4 have a chest strap? Make sure you get one that does or the reading wont mean squat.

Neither one get the F11. It comes with a coded strap so that no one else's monitor interferes with yours.

my f6 has a coded strap too.

i just bought the F6 last night. I compared that to the F11 and decided that the feature on the F11 wasn't worth the extra $40!! But let me tell you... i love my F6!! I now know that the machines at the gym are WAY OFF!!

I have the F4 and I wll not exercise without it ever again! I cant design my own workout, know how many calories you burned were from "fat" calories, or intensity level but it has the other features of the F6.  It does have the chest strap and reminds you to workout after 3 days of no activity. i think its great and I like that when I am at the gym my HR automatically comes up on the machine without holding onto the machine handles.

I also bought mine off of Ebay for 78 with shipping which is about 20 cheaper then in the stores. I dont feel like I am missing out on any of the other features and I am an exercise freak! I love it!

Which ever you choose, it'll be a great investment and health tool knowing that your workouts are counting cuz you are working hard enough!

I just got an F6 and love it! I think the difference between the F6 and F4 is that the F6 keeps a log of what you have done, whereas the F4 only shows what you are currently at (heart rate, kcals burnt, etc). This is what I could understand simply from reading the two packages, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for all of the responses! I just bought an F6 on eBay ($87 ;) and can't wait to get it and use it!!!! Yay!!

The F4 also logs and keeps a summary and total of what you have done.

Well darn.. I so would have bought that one for like $20 less.
