Polar f6 or Polar RS200sd?
Ok, here's the deal. I am in the process of purchasing a hrm and am looking at the Polar F6 or RS200.
I want the hrm to calculate my calorie burn during my workouts (videos, and elliptical) , and also I am running a 5k in July and want to monitor my Heart Rate and calorie burn for that.
Should I go with the F6 or the RS200, it would be great to calculate distance etc. but is it really needed for just basic workouts.
Any experience out there with the higher end ones?
And is the money difference worth it?
Any input would be appreciated!
I am not familiar with the r model but have used my polar F11 for about 3 years now so for the $150 investment it was well worth it. I know the F11 has a VO2 test that makes it more accurate in the calorie burn dept IMHO I don't know about the F6 but I think it just does the cal burn based on the basic data ht wgt RHR etc - I know nothing how the R model uses to do the cal burn.
I guess it depends on your fitness goals. But for me I would go with a Polar model over any other.
Sorry, I should have been more specific, they are both polar hrm just different models.
I am not really in the fitness business to lose more weight just stay fit, and maintain my weight, the Polar Rs200 has GPS and stuff, more for running!
*bump*
I don't have any experience with the higher end models, but I've had the f6 for about a year now, and I really like it. I feel like it's been a great value for the money.
I've had a polar F6 for a few months and I Really like it. The only thing is that even though it is set correctly, I can't trust the calorie count on it completely because it tends to over estimate.

That is one reason I think the F11 is a better choice more accurate cause its more personalized to your fitness level.
As far as the GPS model if that is what you need and desire go for it. Personally since I don't exercise outside or run bike or even walk except on occasion a GPS is just a useless gadget for me. If the HRM has a VO2 test plus the GPS then go for the higher end model. I found I outgrew my basic HRM after about 3 months cause I wanted one that provided the training programs progress reports and such.
You can compare the two on Polar website. Just select the models and it will show them side by side.

RS200 and RS200sd both have OwnIndex (VO2Max estimate), while F6 doesn't. F6 is a very basic model, if you think you're serious about fitness, go for a more advanced one.
I've had an F11 (which is better than F6) for over a year, and I'm already considering getting something fancier.
Thanks so much for the input I think I will go with the rs200sd. My husband is pushing me to get that one because of past experience in buying basic models and then in a couple months wanting better.
Thanks!!!

I was in the same spot, trying to decide between 2 different models. If you call polar and tell them your situation and what you want it for they will recommend which model you should get.
I have an F6 and <3 it
Well I got the polar rs200sd. I like it I think!!
It is pretty difficult to figure out but I am working on it. I still haven't calibrated the footpod. BUt I wore it for my workout video today and was impressed to see how many calories I burned.
So if anyone else has one, please let me in on some of the tricks!!
Thanks Nicole
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
