Poll: How many hours do u sleep every night?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone, just wondering how long do most people sleep, usually. Comments are welcome! and details will be great, eg: quality of the sleep, how often do u party till morning, how do sleep usually affect your day, mood, apetite, weight etc.

i'll start: 7.5 hours every day, very light sleeper, so poor sleep quality. short of sleep shows immediatly on my skin.

My roommate: 4-5 hours a day. Good skin and excellent energy throughout the day.- facinating!

Ok, let's hear about yours!

I tend to go to bed anywhere between 10 and 11 pm and I wake up at 4:30 am. So anywhere from 5.5 to 6.5 hours every night.

I usually wake up right away and I have no issues with staying awake during the day and my mood is pretty good, but it could be the extra exercise I've been getting.

Before if I slept more than 7 hours I'd wake up and it was crudsville all day. I do believe in sleeping too much and how it can be detrimental to you. Hope this helps in your little poll! Laughing

I range from 6 hours up to 9 hours a night. I prefer 8-9 hours but that just doesn't happen all the time. If I get less than 8 hours a night, I'm exhausted all day.

My boyfriend can run fine on 5-6 hours a sleep - darn him!

Mine depends a lot although it tends to be close to 8.  I go to bed around 10:30-11:00, except for the wekeend, and wake up around 6:30-7:00.

If I don't get all my sleep for one night, it's not too bad, but if for 2 or 3 nights in a row I get less than 8, I will a)get crabby b)have less control over my cravings c)get a cold (my immune system sucks.

I am a sleep hound.  I need 7-8 hours on average or I feel like dirt.  Funny you mention the party until dawn thing.  I did this over the weekend, didn't sleep until Saturday morning at 8am and only had 2 hours.  The entire day was a waste and yesterday as well.  It takes me 2 days to recover from nights like those, good thing I don't do them as often anymore.

I can function ok on 6-7 hours sleep but several nights of that and it catches up to me by the end of the week.  Lately I have been having problems falling asleep due to stressing out.

Stretching every night before bed for 10-15 minutes really helps me relax and fall asleep faster.

usually around 9 on the weekdays.....its not enough for me, so on weekends its more like 10-13....plus afternoon naps...

i love sleep!

I tend to get 8-9 hours of sleep a night, which is pretty impressive for a college student.

However, it really doesn't matter when I go to bed, I always wake up around 6-7 in the morning, weekend included.

I work 3 rd shift and go to school full time so except for my nights off ( I sleep 6-7hrs on those nights) I sleep 3-4hrs, sometimes less.  Most of the time I feel just fine -usually not crappy or irritable, pretty happy actually- but after about a month my body catches on to it and there is nothing I can do to stay awake...lol! I wish I slept more...I guess I can when I die one day when I am really elderly!

I sleep about 6 hours. I drink a sugar free rockstar every morning just to keep me up. Bad bad, I know!

I party until morning once a week on Friday or Sat. but I still get up at 7am. No idea why my body does that to me. If I sleep less than 6 hours, I'm starving ALL day. I crave munchies, carbs and chocolate. I def feel irritable.

I notice when I sleep upwards of 8 hours, I lose weight a lot easier and my mood is better. Cravings are also less. I really need to get to bed earlier ;)

I get 6-7 hours during the week, but I function better on 7-8. I usually get a bit extra on the weekend 8-9 hours. More than that and I have a headache all day.

My quality of sleep often depends on my dog. He thinks he needs to sleep on the bed under the covers. But then he wants in, then out, then under, then ... ugh. I can't wait for better weather so I can wear him out more before nighttime.

Around 7-8 hours a night.  My body needs 8 hours of sleep, so I try to give it what it wants! :)

I wish I got more sleep....I get around 4hours a night...and then about once or twice a month I crash and get like 10 hours...But I have insomnia and fibromyalgia so even when I get sleep it's not good sleep. I am run down and warn out!

I get anywhere between 9-11 hours of sleep. (:

I get between 7 to 8 hours every night. I find that since I've changed my eating habits, the quality of my sleep has improved tremendously.

When I was in University, I used to sleep around 10-12 hours a night/day (I admit, sometimes I'd stay up until 4am lol), and I'd also have naps throughout the day/evening. I found I was WAY more tired and "blah" when I was doing that. Now, I get 8 full hours or sleep and I'm awake and alert all day. I actually tried to have a nap yesterday, and I couldn't!! lol

weekdays: anywhere from 0-7 hours of sleep, usually 4

weekends: 8-12 hours, usually 8

i haven't been getting enough sleep since i was in grade 6, maybe that explains why i'm so short.

Usually 8 hours.

I don't get enough sleep to talk about it! haha! I'm a college student, so I pull all-nighters a lot...maybe between 3 to 5 maybe 6 to 7 if I'm lucky...

4-5 days a week I get 2-4 hours a night, then I'll sleep for 8-12 on the other nights.  I'm always more awake at night and sleepier during the day, no matter how much sleep I got, or when I woke up. =/  I tend to be fine on however much sleep I get, but I'm always a bit more hyper and giddy when I've pulled an all-nighter... or two.

It depends. I usually get 8 hours most days, but I can't always do this. Somedays 5.5 hours and some 10 hours. I don't really function too well on the 5.5 hours without matcha (ground Japanese green tea where you are meant to drink the powdered leaves as well). I can't do coffee because I crash badly afterwards so hence the the matcha. I am a night owl, and it is hard for me to sleep before midnight. I am quite happy working until 1am and going to bed at 2am. I am doing my PhD so I have my own schedule most days, and on very good days I work up to 11 hours in a day, but most days I need more breaks working 7-8 hours because it is hard to read and write for hours on end. The days were I don't meet anyone or teach I go to bed around 2 am and get up around get up around 10 am, and those are the days I feel the best. I get 5.5-6 hours of sleep the days I teach so the next day I usually sleep for 10 hours, going to bed around midnight getting up around 10.

Complicated one for me.... Here's a timetable

Oct-Feb

Weekdays 8.5 hrs

Saturday 7 Hrs

Sunday 11 Hrs

Feb-Sept

Weekdays 5-7 Hrs

Saturday 6 Hrs

Sundat 9 Hrs

as i have three children and one is a bad sleeper and one a baby still waking for milk i get about 5.5 - 6.5 hours on a good night but it is disturbed by a weak bladder, on a bad night i am lucky to get 3.5 hours but i would love more.

weekends are the same.

Am going on holiday in a month just hubby and me so hoping to actually get sleep at night and maybe even a nap or two
