For those of you out there who managed to find Mr. or Mrs. Right, how did the two of you manage to meet?

First day of freshman year of high school, first period. =) He was the boy who slept through most of first period despite Fleetwood/Baker's attempts to keep him awake, and I ended up saving his ass all the time by giving him my notes--and any time he was awake he and I would talk and somehow manage to get our friend Drew yelled at, because Drew would try to tell us to be quiet and get caught. <3

Fun times, fun times.

We first actually met at a frat party in college, but didn't start dating till about 5 months later.  My first words to him:  "Hey, you're drunk."

Gaming.

I know you'll like that answer, HK. :)

I met my Mr. Right on the internet (yup, I'm one of those!).  I wasn't trying to find someone but we were both on one of those websites where you post in forums and we often ended up on the same side of debates.  After awhile we took our conversations to an instant messenger, then the phone, then he came to visit me (we lived in different states at the time).  After about 6 months of the long distance thing he moved to be with me.. it's been blissful ever since Laughing

I was hooked up. A friend of Mrs. Right said "Oh, you're so patient. You should meet {HK}." We were both on livejournal at the time, so she checked out my profile and archives, and then made contact. Our fateful first date was a total setup. She was coming down for Father's Day and.. she didn't have a GREAT relationship with her family, so she goes "Oh, poor me! I have to go to Buffalo and see my family! Who ever will save me?' I, being the sucker and idiot I am, fell for it. :)

That's how we met. :)

This is exactly how I met my husband, but add on a couple of years of dealing with immigration and visas and finally a damn green card.

I messaged him on the IRC. He was friends with IRC friends of mine. No romantic involvement until I turned up on his doorstep though, but it did go pretty quickly from there. We were married 43 days later. Oh the internet - the world's greatest dating agency.

I met him at church. I got to know him through email that started out about a newsletter and then slowly turned personal. I saved all the emails and it tickles me to see how we slowly started flirting in them. Wink+Embarassed=Laughing

Today is our 2nd Wedding Aniversary!

Well I'm not married but met my bf in an IRC channel for an online game we played. Eventually moved to MSN messenger and then the phone. About 8 months later he flew to Canada for 5 weeks to visit me. 3 months later I went to Finland for 3 months. 7 months later I'm in Finland again for 3 more months.

He was in the Navy and I lived down the street from the base.  I was hanging with my best friends and their boyfriends (who also happened to be in the navy)  The boyfriends were trying to set me up with one of their friends but he was late and I was hungry so I left without this mystery date.  A few hours later the boyfriends needed to go back to base to check in.  As my friends and I waited in the car, the boyfriends walked out with a new guy who was dressed in his dress blues.  He was on duty and not supposed to leave base, but decided to hang out with us anyway.  We went back to my friends house exchanged numbers (and some kisses) and have been inseparable ever since (5.5 years!)  In regards to the first day we met and him skipping out on duty he said "once I saw you there was no way in hell I was going back on duty"

We're engaged will be getting married sometime next year

Blind date... I know I know.. My best friend wanted me to just meet and go on a double with her now husband and his best friend.  We REALLY hit it off and have been together ever since.. My best friend is of course the maid of honor next year for the wedding and her husband is the best man... Cute right!

This is going to show my age...On a local BBS.

We were best friends for like 6 years before I finally gave in and started dating him.  When we met IRL, I was 15, he was 14, and even though we went to the same high school (and he lived within walking distance of my house), I REFUSED to talk to him in public.

Yeah, well, I'm mean.  What else is new?

We tell everyone we met in the bar where we had our first date.

Hey. If match.com worked for you, why the shame?

Instead of telling people we met on a bbs (which most people don't even know what I'm talking about!), I just say "he lived down the street from me."  It is true!  Hehe.  I hate when my husband tells people the truth, it makes me feel so nerdy (although, in his case, I think he appreciates the geek cred).

Match.com is totally well accepted these days.  People don't think it is weird at all.

In a bar where my friend was hosting a MECHA event. We were the only white people there :D

She had just turned 17 (found this out a couple months later) and I was 23.

She had completed her second year of college and had spent a few years living in germany and did I mention I met her in a bar? Anyway I thought she was 21-22, hat tip to the quality id checkin job by the bouncers, but if she'd had been honest about her age we never would have ended up married.

Internet chat room.  The Graveyard:2, whooo, how gothic.  /sarcasm.

I thought he was a whiney, emo girl and found out he went to the same college I used to have classes at, demanded he meet me for burritos some day so I could torment him, and found out he was actually a dude.

I met my first bf when he randomly IM'd me on yahoo messenger. We also told everyone we just met through some mutual friends because we thought it was embarrassing. It is really common these days though, so I wouldn't lie about it now (though some older generation people still seem to think it's weird).

My husband and I met at work. We worked in the same building, but different companies.

I met my boyfriend in 8th grade, Jr. High, Mr. Blevins Gym class, we had to stand on a row of numbers for role call, I was #31, he was #33. I don't remember it as well as he does, he says that every day I would give him a hug and it made his day. We had mutual friends and hung out throughout high school. I always had a bit of a thing for him, but it never worked out. Then between my Junior and Senior year of college I was home for the summer. My mom had given me the tickets to the company suite she had at our local Baseball team. There were 24 tickets so I started calling everyone I knew, he came to the game and we chatted the whole time, arranged a date for 4 days later. We managed 2 years of long distance before I moved home, and we'll celebrate 5 years this August.
