this is mostly geared towards girls/women, but boys/men are also welcome to give their input, of course.

on your face, what would you rather have; really bad acne, or really bad dry skin? and why?

I've had both, at the same time (ok not really bad), so I would have to say dry skin, because flakey makeup wouldn't be an issue if I didn't have acne to cover. It's also easier to treat and less embarassing/unattractive IMO.

Having had really bad acne all through high school and my attempts to treat it resulting in really bad acne AND really dry skin (when they say not to apply medicines more than once a day, they mean it!) I would much rather have the dry skin. At least then you can put lotion on, and you don't have to deal with the ridiculous amount of oil the acne produces.

Wow, no wonder I hated high school. I'm not just talking topical prescriptions, I was on antibiotics repeatedly. Never on accutane, but I hear that's kind of dangerous.

Dry skin. For similar reasons to pegamoose: I have suffered from oily skin for years. I would rather have dry skin I could moisturize than this horrendous breakout prone mess that spots up at even the thought of "oil". x[

dry skin. It isnt as noticeable as bad acne and moisturizers work better than acne medication do you would have a better chance of fixing the problem.

agreed. i would much rather have dry skin. i've had acne since elementary school (early bloomer) i am now 27 and am finding out that my mom was wrong - acne doesn't just "go away" when you become an adult. but dry skin can always be moisturized. a lot more work goes into stopping breakouts.

dry skin, hands down.

Dry skin. You could just put lotion on it.

OMG dry skin sucks because it looks like my face is FLAKING OFF and there is NOTHING to cover it up... because if you brush bronzer on your face, it will just look worse! I am suffering from some dry skin on my nose (stupid nose) and as a matter of fact, I just tried my hardest to CONCEAL IT - ha ha! Hopefully no one gets TOO CLOSE to my face today or they might ask me why my face looks like it has DANDRUFF on it! ha ha ha! I even use a very expensive moisturizer... but I guess I am just DOOMED to have dry skin... Oh and the whole ACNE THING.. Yea started a new birth control so now my T-ZONE is starting to break out some rocky mountains & it looks gawd-awful... back to the nuva-ring I go (in 2 months, because I bought a 3-month supply! ha ha)

how bad is the acne?  and how dry is the skin?

def the dry the skin before the acne. I can always use alot of moisturizer....but acne is hell to get rid of

i asked this because my skin is SO dry, my mom has mega-acne and we were debating which was worse.

Well then, the consensus based on everyone's post is that your mom wins the arguement (hers is worse) but in the long run, you win!!
