Pop or Soda?

Well the title pretty much says it!!!  What do you call it??  I vote pop all the way!!!  There are also those weird anomalies like soda pop or even just "coke" to refer to any type...... what's wrong with you people... lol!!??!

Everyone in San Diego calls it soda or coke or soft drink.  I dont know anyone who calls it pop.  I think its more of a midwest thing.  When I traveled throught the US thats what most diners and resturants would call it and if someone ordered a coke or soda they were looked at funny.

soda!  pop only if i'm trying to be kitschy :-)  and coke is coke, not all carbinated beverages :-)  same goes for tonic

I call it pop usually or the name of the specific soft drink i'm talking about(coke, mountain dew, w/e)

I've called it both...I hate it when people use coke to mean any kind of soda!  Generally if you order a soda here you're fine, if you order a coke that's what they will bring you, a coke, not any other kind of carbonated beverage :)  They'll also give you a soda if you order pop.

I agree though, it's probably a midwest thing.  When I was in Cali a while back for a football game we asked a guy at the hotel where the nearest pop machine was and he looked at us like we were insane... :)

haha, this is kinda funny!  My husband and I debate over this all of the time! 

I call it POP. (from WA state).    He calls it all Coke. (he's from NC).

When I talk to Canadians I call it pop.. Americans I refer to it as soda..

Soda. "Pop" sounds stupid. I've NEVER heard of "pop" when I was back on the islands. As soon as I moved to the mainland, it was always "pop". Still think it sounds stupid after all this time.

Soda is carbonated water! Its clear, looks just like tonic...

always was soft drink when I was a kid.  Last year it was soda.  now, it's "the devil."

Pop...never soda...depends on where you are from and what you heard mostly as a kid...

Growing up in PA. we called it pop and relatives still do. Live in the south now and we call it soda.   Same could be said for hogie or sub sandwhich.

In this part Iof Ontario, it is called pop or soft drink.  If you ask for soda, you get the clear stuff
