Okay, they're totally bad for you...high in calories, no redeeming nutritional value but I had a frosted cherry Pop Tart for breakfast. It was great! I haven't had one in years! When I was pregnant with my first baby, Pop Tarts and malts were my staples. I love them but have been so good in avoiding them till now. So I had it with a cup of green tea. Does that make it better? That makes 204 calories for breakfast...I can live with that. I should feel more guilty.

a calorie is a calorie is a calorie.
There's a lot of folks who say a calorie is a calorie. However, I have noticed that when I eat healthy food, I lose more, period. Perhaps it's because when the body gets all the nutrition it needs, it burns more efficiently. And it isn't all about the weight loss. Not only have I lost 46 lbs, I feel fantasic! I could have lost 46 lbs eating tiny amounts of unhealthy food, but I guarentee I wouldn't feel this great or this alive.
An occaional Pop Tart isn't going to kill you. But remind yourself that it isn't nutritional at all and it should be limited to being an occasional indulgence. Nutritionally, it's no better than waking up and eating a slab of chocolate cake. White flour, lots of sugar, it's just one big sweet simple carb, and it will spike your blood sugar and then crash you later. If you want to have one, try it later in the day. Simple carbs for breakfast can end up leaving you hungry sooner, and causing you to overeat during the day.

i'm not condoning living on poptarts, but psychological joy, wellbeing, translates to physical health as well. go ahead, have that poptart, but only rarely, or else it'll lose it's luster
and food isn't ALL about science, analyzing ingredients, predicting exactly how other bodies work. good job on the green tea, it's good for you.
I agree with what has been said above. I also agree that happiness and not feeling deprived are integral components to overall and long-term success. I also worry that you're going to get really hungry later . . . like sooner later. Be sure to eat something healthy and filling when that happens and, I say, yum, frosted cherry Pop-Tarts are my favorite flavor, too. ;-) Once IN AWHILE isn't going to hurt anything as long as you include the cals and be prepared to eat something else in an hour or two that is GOOD FOR YOU.
Well, eating Pop Tarts definitely is a rare event. The only reason I indulged today is that it's Saturday...breakfast was way later than usual and I knew that the time between breakfast and lunch is a lot briefer today than on a work day. On a regular work day, oatmeal or cream of wheat are the breakfast of choice...then I can make it to lunch without getting hungry. I love oatmeal!
Hahahaha finally I found someone who loves pop tarts as much as me lol! They are my all time favorite foods and when I started maintaining my weightloss I immediately brought them back as a regular treat...I have one almost every single day as my one less-nutritional snack that I have each day (I devote about 250-300 calories to this category each day)...I love any flavor, but because I have them almost everyday I have the low fat version pop tart which only comes in strawberry (my favorite) and brown cinnomon/sugar...these are ten/twenty calories less than the other pop tarts (190 calories per pastry) and signifiacntly lower in sugar, carbs, and fat.....
I know that another company (Nature's Path) makes Organic Pastries (pop tarts), but they are still 200-210 calories and still higher in fat, sugar, carbs than the low fat pop tart...but they have organic fruit so that is a plus I guess...I haven't bought these though, because Pop Tart is lower and my favorite :-)

aaahh poptarts...i remember those! gah i used to eat like 2 pastry things for breakfast when i was little. no wonder i was so fat! :)
I eat poptarts occasionaly. Chocolate cookie dough!
I LOVE POPTARTS! my dad works for kelloggs, and he just got like 5 cases of new poptarts. in january, they are going to sell the new poptarts, which include two that are made with whole grain! they come in strawberry and brown sugar cinnamon. the brown sugar cinnamon are really good. they're still poptarts though and not good for you, but at least if it's whole grain you can't feel QUITE as bad about eating them :-)
Don't even mention them, I absolutely love poptarts. Having only half of one = me sneaking back to eat the other half= me eating the second one = me opening a new packet!!
lol, glad to know i'm not alone.

I used to love them, but apart from the occasional bite I've given them up. I want to try the French Toast ones [Quebec only] :]]

Ah....Pop Tarts- the very mention put me right back to when I was a kid and my Mom said I could eat whatever I wanted- boxes of snacky Empties were often available too. Now that I am an old fogey grownup I have chosen to not own a toaster or a microwave. I get into plenty of trouble with my old fashioned skillet and bottle of oil! Thanks for the memories. Day dreaming can be fun.
omg... i LOVE poptarts!!! <3 but i have to stay away fom them bcuz i cant eat just one :(
Amy's makes a frozen variety that is only 150 per pop in apple and strawberry and not packaged in two to a foil (who really leaves the other one all alone in there?). They also have a savory pop that is cheese pizza.
Hot Fudge Sundae poptarts...the memories...I do wanna try Amy's though.
One pop tart is not going to hurt you...if you were eating a whole box at a time, you might have problems (I know I would go into a sugar overdose
). It is always great to splurge on a favorite treat once in a while, and you should so you don't feel deprived. As long as you are pretty much in your routine, you can have that wonderful sugary treat every so often without guilt.
