Pork White Bean Kale Soup Calories?

Quote  |  Reply

I bought all the ingredients to make the Pork White Bean Kale Soup recently featured from eatingwell.com.  The nutritional info. from eatingwell said that each serving has 262 calories per serving.  The CC recipe analizer comes up with 498!  I will probably go with the CC number, but can anyone else figure out why such a big descrepancy? I was going to serve the soup with a spinich salad and bread to make a meal of it for dinner, that's going to add up to a pretty heafty evening meal!

Either the serving sizes are different, or the recipe from eatingwell uses lower-calorie ingredients than you input for CC (for example, what kind of meat was used in each? whole milk vs skim? butter vs low-fat margarine?). Make sure the nutrition information for each ingredient (from CC's analyzer) match what you actually buy and use; that way, the final calorie count will reflect what you ate.

because of the beans, I would first check what CC is linking the beans to. Often people are linking to dried beans. Canned beans of the same measurement as dried have a lot less calories because of volume (you can get way more dry beans into a cup!).

You can find the right ingredient and link your item to that by using brackets and the numbers at the end of the url on the ingredient page - like this: [1234].

You can find out what your ingredient entry is linking to by using the edit button on the recipe and clicking on the view link for ingredients.

Have fun!

It was the beans!!! 1468 calories vs. around 400.  Thanks so much!!!
