Porrige recipe
Lots of protein and complex carbs, keeps me full for hours, and it tastes great!
1/3 cup of buckwheat groats- 189
1/3 cup of President's Choice organics long grain brown rice- 210
1/4 cup of quinoa- 160
1 mini snack box of sun-maid raisins-45
2 tbsp table cream- 58
1 tsp brown sugar 11
Total calories- 673
Bring about a 1 and a quarter cup of water to a boil in a pot.
Add buckwheat, rice, quinoa and raisins, cover and put on low heat.
Let that cook for about 20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed.
The mixture should be moist, not dry but not runny.
Serve in a bowl and top it off with some cream and brown sugar.
Depending on how much you can eat, this can feed two people.
I like the whole grains very much. Buckwheat is underused. It's so nutty and flavorful, we should eat more of it. Which cut of buckwheat did you use? I see it in the Kosher section of the supermarket in whole, coarse, medium and fine granulation. I like the whole best.
FYI - Buckwheat groats are also called kasha.
Mmm kasha. Yep it is definitely under used. Hard to find too, unless one goes to some of the ethnic markets. :(

I use whole but coarse would work too I suppose. I get mine at the farmers market in my area.
I had no idea it was called kasha, thanks for the info :)
Plus, if anyone has a different version of this I would love to hear about it, because I know some people use cinnamon and apples and things like that.
This sounds lovely and filling! I love porridge but tend to avoid it because just oats dont fill me up at all.
But this sounds simply yum! Must give it a try.
Thanks!
Umm buckwheat is not oats.
