What is a portion of pasta?

After the pasta is cooked, does one portion equal a half a cup or 1 cup?
Answer
A portion of pasta is the amount that equals one ounce. It is usually 1/2 cup of cooked pasta or one ounce dry. All foods from the Grains Group, such as rice, oats and cereal, are measured in one-ounce equivalents. Women typically need 6 one-ounce portions of grains in one day. People may elect to spread their grains throughout the day in anywhere from two to six meals. At least half of the grains chosen should be whole grains with the bran and germ intact.
