Positive Walkers Please

Quote  |  Reply
Seems like a simple thing to so, this walking, I've been doing.....  but it has made such a positive difference in my life. Not only the exercise and its bodily benefits, but the energy, the way I feel about myself, my mental well-being---and last/most important, the VERY AWESOME, POSITIVE people I have met here at cc who are also walkers and woggers!!!!

This post is for girls!!!

Rock on with your walkin', girls (and boys...)!!

I walk approx 2 miles to work, Monday to Friday. I found this really great website that you can use to measure your distance if you are walking around the neighborhood:

gmaps pedometer is awesome, but don't do the calorie calculator unless you're running.  Also, check out the walking thread in the weight loss forum.

Hello walkers!   Thanks Olivia for starting this thread! Yes, walking makes me feel, well, absolutely POSITIVE!!!  I love my morning walks and they make me feel happy and uplifted.  They aren't something I stress over...did I walk  far enough, did I walk fast enough,  did it burn every calorie I ate?  Nope,  I do it for the awesome energy it gives me (and the fact that my legs look better doesn't hurt!).  Smile

Hope to meet others on this thread whose walking makes them just plain feel good too!

I love my walks!  I am able to relax and enjoy the evening with my family, who usually tag along.  What a great benefit for all of us.  The sunsets in So. Cal make an evening walk so worth it.  And I am able to sleep so much better afterword.  So I continue to walk the pounds away.  Happy walking today everyone!
I'd like to start walking.  A bit ago I walked a very rambunctious dog to the park and around the park, with a 25 pound back pack.  Even though my legs were worn out and my knee was swollen, I was still uppity enough to do my entire job that night, and then help out my co-workers with their jobs.

Now I just have to find time in my schedule to do it.  ^^;
I love walking too, not only has it been the main source of my exercise these past 3-4 weeks, it has been what has helped me lose 4 lbs and 1 inch in the waist and both thighs in only 3-4 weeks (plus eatin healthier as well). Walking really helps with weight loss, but it helps me clear my head and build energy! Wog on my soul sista! :) Thanks for starting the thread, that is POSITIVE!! :) Love ya girl!
Olivia, Aren't we positive enough on your Walking to lose the weight thread, lol? But it's great to see more walking topics started too.  :o)

Rachel

Can't have enough happy walkers out there!

mamabird--I am also losing pounds and inches because of my walking.  Once thing I especially like about it is not only that it clears my head but that it is strictly ME time!  I take my ipod and thoroughly enjoy listening to it, as it is really the only time during the day that I have an opportunity to listen to music.

delight--if it is something you really want, you should be able to fit a little time into your schedule for walking.  It sure makes you feel GOOD!

Hope Olivia is having a good weekend moving!  Whew! Makes my tired just thinking about doing it!

I am oh so jealous of you all!!!  I went for a short walk last weekend cuz I miss it so much and oh my gosh I regretted it for a few days after.  My shinsplints were so painful.

I love walking and enjoy the stress reduction it provides me.  I can hardly wait til my injury is healed and I can hit the pavement once again.

If you are new to this take my advice --GET GOOD SHOES NOW!!!!!

dbackerfan--shin splints are just awful!  I feel so bad for you and it takes so long before they aren't an issue too!!  You're right about the need for good shoes and I would also add to that...Always Stretch Before AND After!  Even when walking "short" distances.

I adore walking my dog!  I always get home feeling happy and rejuvenated.

RE post # 10 - be careful stretching before a walk.  Stretching cold muscles can cause injury.  :)
purespark--I always walk once around the track before I stretch, so that helps warm up the muscles.  Good advice though! Thanks!
That's what I usually do - stretch a little bit about five minutes into my walk.  :)  Never had shin splints, though, they sound just awful!
Hurray!!

Some of my favorite friends and some new to me awesome walkers and woggers!  ( :

I hate to admit most of my "walking" since school started has just been me running around my classroom, but that's ok.  I befriended my new neighbor doggie, just like at my old house, and I will start walking her soon!!!  I can't wait!!

I only have 9 days now until the bridesmaid gig that junp started me into walking motion this summer. Other then getting a HUGE cat scratch while moving unhappy kittens to the new house right across my upper chest, I am pretty happy with the way I hope ny dress no longer fits and will have to be taken in.....   I still need to find some silver heels---where the hell else am I going to wear something like that???  This girl wear sandals ALL THE TIME and has no use for heels, let alone silver ones.....   So what did I do?  I asked my students!!  LOL   =P Sounds crazy, but they love me and I had several offers of loans today....  Hopefully something will fit and I can avoid shelling out $$.  ( :

Walk on with your bad selves!!!
