Do any of you notice that some people just look thiner than other even thoyugh they weight more?

if so, are there people that will look fat no matter how much weight they lose??

My whole family has the curse of big fat arm and big thigs, also I have fat aroaund my face that never seems to change, my scale tells me I'm thinner but I dont see much of an improvement. am I fighting nature?  I know I can't spot-burn calories but, will my face ger ever any skinnier?

im the same way. i weigh 100lbs but am OBVIOUSLY  a lot flubbier then some of my friends who are thinner and weigh more. someone explain please

Two possibilites:

  1. You actually aren't flubby at all.  Instead, your mind has distorted the image you see in the mirror.  This is actually pretty common (and the most likely explanation for someone who weighs as little as 100 pounds).
  2. You have very little muscle mass while your thinner heavier friends do have muscles.  A pound of muscle is much smaller than a pound of fat.

I was actually jealous of the muscle tone in your arms/shoulders, so don't stress :)

If, genetically, you tend towards a rounder face then you'll probably find it won't change much as you lose weight.  The 'baseline' for your shape otherwise is your skeleton.  If you have broad hip-bones or shoulder-bones you can reduce the amount of flesh and fat on them by losing weight but they're never going to look the same as someone with narrow hip-bones.

If you don't think you look any slimmer, don't worry, that's pretty common.  We're on the inside looking out, as it were, we see ourselves every day and we're probably in the worst place to judge changes in our own appearance. 

What can help is to make the most of your new shape by dressing to suit. If you're still wearing the same clothes you had when you were bigger, for example, that can disguise the weight-loss.

 

I dont have a round face, its not a circle but there is fat under my chin that sticks out when I smile, that's what makes me look fat, along with the fat on my arms

You can't afford to get hung up about minor flaws....  The fat on your chin and arms will probable recede as your weight reduces but it would be wrong to expect weight-loss to result in physical perfection!  Aim for 'good health' a 'healthy weight' and gloss over the rest with a confident attitude, clever dressing and cosmetics.

i think being in isolation also distorts body image. I live by myself now (compared to when i used to live with 2 other girls, and hang out a lot moreoften) and i have a boyfriend so all i do is hang out with him now and rarely can compare myself to normal girls.  Not that I feel like i NEED to, it's just hard to live alone and worry about weight at the same time.

I think it's really hard to judge yourself whether you are distorting your body image. Most of us do it all the time. Once I was down to 118 (which is skeletal for me, I realize now) and it wasn't until two years later, looking at photos from that time that I realized how truly thin I was. This is why I believe in those "proper weight range" numbers. Way more than I believe my eyes on the mirror.
