Is it possible to gain 14lbs in 1 weekend? I've been loosing steady for 4+ months. Even with week end slip ups, I've still lost. But this one week end I show a gain of 14lbs. fri 8/29/2008 I was 198lbs. Today, 9/2/2008, I'm 212. I'm freaking out.

Anything is possible, but that is //highly// unlikely. You'd have to eat a total of nearly 50,000 calories OVER your maintainence. That's like 15,000 calories a day. Now maybe you have an appetite like Michael Phelps, but if not, I really don't believe you gained 14 pounds. It might be water weight. Or maybe some really dense food. Try drinking more water.

Thanks. I'm hoping its a scale problem, and water weight. It's the same scale as my fri. weigh-in. I'll drink, drink, and drink. As well as stay on the wagon. No more binging. This was very scarey to me.

Are you sure your scale isn't broken? O_O

This seems impossible!

I think it has to be the scale. Although, it's always seemed normal before. Maybe some water wt. and maybe some real lbs.

I know that I did the same thing last weekend. I weighed 208.5 on Friday morning...then Monday morning, I weighed 216. We eat pretty good during the week and have whatever we want during the weekend, so I always weigh more on Monday. However, that next Friday I was back down to 207.5.

I just chalk most of it up to water weight.

I know this probably is not a good way of maintaining, but it seems to work for me.

Funny, i just posted an almost identical posting!  I've gained 7lbs in one weekend, which for my normal 140 body is pretty similar to what you experienced.  I weighed myself on my personal scale as well as the gym scale, both the same.  It literally MUST be water weight, because that much body fat gain would mean our clothes would fit differently, and other than feeling sluggish my outfits fit fine.  I FEEL YOUR PAIN...it's scary to see for sure.

It's probably a lot of water weight but review what you ate the last couple of weeks.  For me it's usually several days after I overeat that the weight shows up.  My weight watcher leader used to say you are wearing what you ate last week all the time.  I don't think I've gained that much at once but it's nothing for me to show a 5 lb gain in one day.  I have to watch every bite.Cry  Drink lots of water to wash away the water weight and hopefully a lot of it will come off.

I just had the same thing happen to me this last weekend. I am hoping it is water weight too. I ate more than I normally do but worked out hard.  Do you gain water weight with sore muscles? My husband and i stained our deck this last weekend for 5 hours in 95 degree weather and I still feel like someone beat me with a 2x4 across my legs. It is very scary to see that scale move up when you work so hard to get it to go the other way.

I gained 13lb within a few days when i was pregnant. I came in for an appt and was weighed, the following wk i came in again and when they weighed me and when my dr. looked at my chart, he was dumbfounded. He asked the nurse to re-weigh me. It still said the same thing and they both said "wow, what did you eat". I couldnt believe it either and didnt feel any different. He chalked it up to fluid retention and that was that.

This happened to me this weekend. I put on 5lbs. I did the same thing and freaked out. It was gone 2 days later. Don't stress it. It won't stay that long. Don't get down on yourself. Drink water!!!

This is an up-date to my original post. I spent tues. and wed nite going to the restroom all nite long. Today is thurs. 9/4/08 and I weigh 198lbs again. So, it was a lot of water wt. I just didn't know you could gain that much from just water. Also, over the weekend when I binged it was mostly salty snacks. Since I've been eating right and excercising, I had cut out salt, so it may have really had an effect on me with all that salt. So don't give up if this happens to you. I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. Just get back on track and it will go away....it did for me. Who ever told me to drink plenty of water, thank you. It really helped and I feel so much better.

You poor thing!  I'm glad you are back to where you were before!  How scary!

Good job on drinkin the H2O.
