possible
this probably sounds a silly question but is it still possible to get pregnant if you arnt having periods ?
From what I've heard if your periods have stopped because of anorexia then you probably won't be able to get pregnant because you aren't ovulating (producing eggs). However, your period will start again once you have started to recover and your body is receiving the necessary nutrition. If your periods have started again then you should be able to get pregnant.
I'm not a doctor though, so you'd probably want to get info and advice from him/her and not me!

I would say your chances of getting pregnant without a period are probably very low, but not impossible - there could be some kind of fluke event. Even without your period, you'll still have a stash of eggs in your ovaries - they just won't be released every month.
On the flip side, having periods usually but doesn't always mean you're fertile - I was having periods but was told that no eggs were being released from my ovaries (which turned out not to be true, but still could be the case for others).
Whatever is going on for you personally is something that only your doctor will be able to decipher.
Additionally, even if you aren't having your periods right now, there is still a chance your cycle might start up again this coming month. If that's the case, then if you have unprotected sex you could still get pregnant, because even if you don't SEE your period, the egg could still have been released inside you ready to come in a couple weeks.
So be careful.
I'm going through this right now...no periods for several months. Talking with my gynecologist, because my husband and I are trying to have a baby. He said a woman absolutely cannot get pregnant without periods. Not only that, but for the health of the baby, he wants to see a pattern of regular, healthy periods (which means endometrium lining is thick enough to support pregnancy). Went on Prometrium, then Provera to induce period and had no success. This led to the diagnosis of low body fat. I am now increasing my calories in order to regain a period. I do not suffer from eating disorders, but have been a model my whole life. I am giving that up in order to maintain a body that is healthy inside, not just on the outside. Lack of periods is more serious than I thought...leads to health issues that can be pretty dire.
thanks everyone ive had this disorder since i was 13 and although id had periods for a while i kind of missed out on learning about this stuff due to being in hospitasl. sorry if i came across stupid svea im sorry for your struggle to concieve and i hope you manage to sort this out h x
Oh, honey, please don't feel like you're stupid. I'm 35 and asked the same question to my gynocologist! It really isn't a struggle...I have a 14 year old daughter (that's her in my photo!) whom I love so much. Just thought that if I am going to have another baby, the time is now. It is so difficult, I know, to gain weight. Modeling really set the mold for me, and I am trying to accept "real" life now. That's the real struggle. We all have our own, and it's difficult no matter how easy it looks to others. If I hear another person say "I wish I had to gain weight, I'd love it!", I'll explode. Never feel stupid. Never. I wish you the best, too!
thanks svea h xxx
