How is this possible?!!!

Quote  |  Reply
I've been dieting for 4 weeks now.  At first I lost about 4lbs... then a couple more... then I gained nearly 3.5 after a weekend of traveling.  Today I weighed myself again and I've lost 9.3lbs since Wednesday!!! I don't get it... I skipped the gym twice since Wednesday and still I've lost more in the last 5 days than I have in the last 3 weeks! Any ideas as to why tihs might be happening?

It is not uncommon to swing 4 or 5 lbs in a single day (depending on food intake and uhhh outgo). I would say probably changes in diet while traveling helped your retain fluids or something and then back to a regular diet made your body let it go. Also if your a female that rapid of a swing could be ttom. And I don't mean just AF either my dw swings wildly depending where she is in her cycle.

I had thought about the whole female thing... but I've never experienced a swing quite this dramatic from my cycle.  Is it possible I was working out too much before? I thought I was above 1200 calories for my net intake, but maybe I miscalculated.  I have been doing work-outs burning about 900 calories...
If you were burning that many calories you could have lost 2 to 4 pounds of sweat in those workouts. I weigh myself before my workout and after. On a day that I skip a workout it stays pretty consistant with my pre-workout weigh in. So the other day I weigh 204.0 pre workout and 201.0 after it. If the next day I skip a work out and weigh myself at 204.0 then it looks like I gained 3 pounds in one day. Maybe it's something along those lines.
Those workouts were pre-9lb-drop.  My weight typically changes about 1.5 lbs during workouts... but I've never experienced this kind of drop.  Not that I'm complaining! I just don't want it to be something bad...

I would think a single drop is ok as long as it's not a "I lost 9 pounds every week for a couple of months" kind of thing. I was really depressed once and did something along these lines dropping from +200 down to 160 in less than a month. Time will tell more.

to me it sounds like your metabolism is getting jump started.  This will level out and you will see a more stable weight loss.  And one of the most important things to remember when you are traveling...WATER!  Load up on your water.
