is this possible? now i'm underweight~ *_*
ok so i've dieted for about 3 months, and i dropped from 49 kg to 43 kg. then i stopped and went for a maintenance up to now. i eat around 1400 (when my appetite just flies out of the window) to as much as 3500 cals (i kind of overeat some times), and i haven't weighed myself in since march (i was 43kg by then).. so i thought i gained some weight since i decreased my exercise (due to laziness :P) or most days i don't exercise at all, though i get some from walking, house cleaning, random dancing when i feel like it, etc...
BUT when i had a physical exam at the school clinic yesterday, the scale showed 41kg.. and my height is 61 inches according to their ruler. so now my bmi is 17 which is of course underweight :( i couldn't believe it, i even asked the facilitator "are you sure it was 41kg?" and he said "yes, you are underweight", OH NOOESSSS x_x
i am quite confused, how did this happen? how come upping my calories led to another weight loss?
so now i need to gain, but i'm scared i might overdo it, and it will lead to rapid weight gain --- my family has a history of becoming overweight individuals when reaching adulthood so that concerns me A LOT. i don't want to be like them, no wayyyyy...
ENLIGHTEN ME, ANYONE?
I know it is hard to not worry about the what if's in the future but it does not help you now as you know. Try to focus on today and what you need to do to be healthy. The worries you have about the future may not happen and regardless you still have to take care now. It does not have to be a life of being under or over but can be healthy. I think when people eat huge ranges from 1400 to over 3000 like you stated the body becomes so confused. Of course there will be ranges from day to day but I think better to keep it more stable so your body can adjust, trust, and recover. 1400 is not enough as you know and so I would encourage you to increase every few days or a week till you get to a weight gain meal plan.

I would love to know the answer to that as well.
I'm recovering from an eating disorder and and I have similar stats to you , pixienaa, at the moment [41kg and 5'1]
I dropped from I dunno, 47kg to something like 36kg. I'm back to 41 but I somehow lost .5kg in the last week :/
Most days I eat almost 3000, except sometime I just can't stomach it and eat a little less [around 2000ish]. So is this the same sort of thing, is my body getting "confused"?
[I'm really tired haha. sorry if I don't make sense]
i think what they mean about the body getting so confused is that, when we eat more than usual like around 3000+, we boost the metabolism that when we eat less the next day, since usually when i try to eat a lot i would somehow get so bloated the next day that i lose my appetite and eat less, around 1400-1800ish.. because of the amped metabolism, by eating less, and still on the same calorie burn level, it doesnt have any net gain? hmmnnn...
i'm not sure what i'm talking about. lol
Forgive me, I might be a little confused, but by the sound of it you're either grossly underestimating your intake some days or you're simply doing what normal people do - except your net intake is causing you to lose and not gain or maintain. So yes, you need to gain weight and yes, your weight is low to a point of danger.
Start eating 2500 calories on a consistent, consistent basis. Every day. No slips, no ifs, no buts. If you feel like you can't eat that in food every day manage more of your intake in caloric fluids. Same goes for you vinegar. You're probably eating less that you reckon on your "low" days.
i actually am trying to get as much calories from fluid now, to meet my minimum intake to gain.. i drink milk twice a day, then some other cocoa hot mixes. and i think today i will drink more fluid than ever coz i'm very constipated, and drink dulcolax.
What is the diet for kidney stones?
For kidney stones, you should drink at least three to four quarts of fluid (preferably water) everyday. There are several kinds of kidney stones... Read more
