Depends on your starting weight. 7 months is about 28 weeks, and if you are large enough to lose 2lb/week, you could lose 50lb in that time (healthy weight loss is 1-2lb/week). But weight loss doesn't always work out perfectly, so I wouldn't count on it. But even if you lost 28lbs in that time, that's still over half way to your goal.

It is not Impossible!  I started a Reduced Calorie Diet on March the 18th and I weighed 263lbs. Now, 13 weeks later I am at 190 lbs.  All it takes is self control and a made up mind!  I know most folks will say it is very bad for your health to lose it that fast...but I figured either be fat or lose it fast.....I chose lose it fast.

I am healty and have recently started to run track.  WOW  did'nt think I would ever be able to do that!

I would say it's possible, but as amethystgirl already mentioned, weight loss doesn't work out perfectly. You would need to lose between 1.8 and 2 lbs. a week to achieve your goal. If there's a lapse during this time that you don't lose that much in a given week, then you will end up short. My concern over losing so much weight in a short period of time is once you lose the weight, being able to maintain it. Once you've lost the weight, if you start going back to what you were eating before the weight loss, then you will gain it right back.

It's possible, but amethystgirl's right. The bigger you are starting out, the more likely it is that you'll be able to do it. For me, the first 50 pounds was easy, and I did it in just about seven months. However, now that I'm at a healthy BMI, the next 20 pounds have been letting go more and more grudgingly.

well i only have to lose 10 lbs to be in the healthy bmi zone (at the very tippy top of it), so maybe 50 was reaching a little (a lot) high since i probably wouldn't lose anymore of that. oh well, sorry 43things.

That would amount to 1.5 to 2 pounds a week, every week.  The problem is, weight loss isn't an even progression.  You can be stuck at the same weight for a couple of weeks then drop 3 pounds all at once.  I have never understood why this is, but that's how it happens.

What happens then is you lose motivation and get discouraged.  I think instead of setting a strict time goal, you make smaller goals that will lead to healthier eating and permanent weight control.

Personally, I don't care how long it takes.  I'm in this to improve my whole life forever.

So, at 169 with a BMI of 26.5, you are about 5'7"....if you lost 50lbs, you would be 119lbs and have a BMI of just under 19, which is underweight.  It's not a great or healthy goal for you, and since you are not severely overweight you would have to resort to drastic measures to be able to do this at all, let alone within 7 months.

30 pounds, however, is perfectly healthy and likely attainable within 7 months.

I'm 5'10" and I went from 215 to 165 in 25 weeks.

hey what did you do to lose the weight.  I currently weigh 220lbs and am 5'10 as well and my goal weight is 165lbs and I am 20 years old.

It's totally doable. I actually lost it in 4 months. I started 08-04-08 & at my last weigh-in on 06-08-09 I'd lost 87 lbs. I have been faithful to tracking my food & activity with Caloriecount but I also have been eating 5-6 times a day. Basically every three hours (so I broke down my meals & snacks).

GOOD LUCK!

I burned on average 3000 cals a day and ate on average 2000 calories a day.

My burn was upped by cycling and I controlled calories in by keeping my proportion sizes reasonable and eliminating unnecessary snacks and calorie laden beverages.  What I didn't do was eliminate any of the foods that I like from my diet.
