Is it possible to lose only a few lbs in weight but lose more in inches? Is the slow weight loss due to muscle weight?

Scale reflects only 1-2 lbs lost in 2 weeks yet I already lost 2 inches on my waist and 2 in the bust.

Been doing the 30 day shred for almost 1 week now and Taebo for 3 weeks. Started ignoring weighing daily but measured myself instead.

I've already lost 6 lbs in almost 6 weeks. So I figured that's 1 pound a week with a 500 - 700 calorie deficit a day.

Any thoughts on this?

What is the 30 day shred?  Is it available on CC?

I have been training for a marathon (walking) and have dropped 2 sizes in pants and 1 size in shirts in just a month.  I have only lost 3-4 pounds in that same amount of time.

Sounds like we are in the same boat!  Smile

Congrats on the loss! I'm hoping to train for a marathon next year myself!

30 day shred is a workout designed by Jillian Michaels - she's the trainer from the show The Biggest Loser.

Here's a youtube video -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp-ms4Zzdpo

Really awesome program. Thought I was gonna die at 1st but its only 20 minutes long and before you know it its over.

Congrats on your loss too!  Doesn't it feel great?!?!

I'll have to check that video out - 20 minutes sounds doable.

Absolutely.

I lost 12.5 + inches and the scale never moved.  In fact, I gained weight.

It's the muscle mass and water retention from building that muscle.

Keep on keepin' on...

Great job.

Yes, I was doing the 30 Day Shred and lost 2 lbs if that but the inches and look of my body was a bigger difference than what the scale was showing.  Keep at  it and you will see the difference.

If you are in a caloric deficit, it is not possible to build muscle. you need to eat over maintenance to gain muscle mass. You can retain water from working out, but you are not gaining muscle.
