possible to reverse binging damage?

i had a relapse today and went on a binge of peanut butter, bread, and cereal.  i feel like **** and really guilty.  more like super guilty.  Gosh! i've post this up so many times. 

my question is , is it possible to eat normal and not binge anymore and your body will go back to the normal weight?  will that happen, if i can just stop binging, will i look like what i used to ?  Has anyone ever recovered from binging and ate normally (no starving, diets, excessive workouts) and lost their post-binge weight?

Can you give a little bit of background information? Are you currently dieting? Trying to gain weight? Or just maintaing? Are you recovering from an ED (if so what sort)..

I am going to assume you are currently maintaining your weight after an ED and binged today...

In the real world we all overindulge somedays; drink, go out for dinner, whatever - so in the long run the extra calories you took in today ARENT abnormal. (speaking in terms of weight) If you're not currently dieting or anything then I say just resume eating normally. Don't let the binge get under your skin.

If you find yourself gaining weight in the long run, then you can choose to lose that weight at some point in time but that would be the effect of lots of binge days + over eating days over a long period of time. This binge, today, won't change you. :) 

i'm not dieting but trying to maintain; however, i've gained like 10lbs from binging from last year in november, and since then, the binge has been on and off, like in january, i have 12 days of binging and since then, in feb, today's was my first, and i'm so ashamed. 

i'm just scared, really scared because i don't want this to escalate in something much worse than what has it become.  i just wanted to know if there's hope.  That it's possible if i eat normal like 3 meals a day and 2 snacks in between and stop the binging complete, perhaps my body will go back to it once was.

It's really the total number of calories within the day that matter the most.  Peanut butter has a great deal of nutritional content, so if you're going to go overboard on something that's at least a good one.  FYI, binging is a term used a lot to refer to specific symptoms of eating disorders, so if you're not experiencing symptoms of an eating disorder you might consider using a different term, especially when combining it with the term relapse.

Bodies are amazing, they do recover from a lot of what we do to them, not instantaneously, but over a period of time.  The best thing you can do for yourself and your body is to eat a reasonably healthy and balanced diet with a bit of exercise starting now and you will most likely take care of any prior bad habits.

Hi I am a binger as well. I am currently overcoming it one day at a time. The major thing that has helped me are the books written by Geneen Roth, Feeding the Hungry Heart and Why Weight? among others. They have been a real comfort to me and I would recommend them to anyone who is a compulsive, emotional or binge eater. If you need a buddy send me a message any time! Good Luck!

I am also a binger who is trying to stop.  When I succeed at not binging for a week or so, I do lose weight.  For example, I gained 5 pounds  2 weeks ago because I binged a lot that week (and by binge I mean 5,000-7,000 calories).  I made it 5 days without binging and lost 4 pounds in those 5 days.  So I guess if you can eat normally, you will lose weight; it kninda just makes sense.

Good Gracious! I thought I binged yesterday due to my period. I was so hungry. I ate about 2100 calories, including 2 sugar cookies and about a 1/2 can of light pringles and a half of freschetta pizza. I feel bad from that. I couldn't imagine binging 5000 calories. I don't even think I could down that much!

Sadly one binge, probably in less than an hour.  I have no idea how I can do it; its a hard thing to admit to, but putting it out there actually does help bring into perspective of how bad this binge problem has gotten and how I NEED to stop.
