The Possitive Support/Anti Self-Sabotage Group
Does anyone else here have great willpower when doing well, but tend to give up at the slightest rise in the scale? What about those that have no support around you, or someone that is always negative to you? Do you feel that at times you just wanna cry out for help? ~Or, do you want to help others that are going through situation that you can relate to? I want to start a group so myself and others can find support in their hour of need and/or motivate others in their's. I know I can always find the motivation I need on this site to pick myself up and keep going, but it would also be nice to have it on one thread for fast access. If you would like to post a weekly, monthly, or whenever-you want-ly (:p) weigh-in, feel free to do that as well. I'd like to hear rants, brags, tips, and whatever else you might want to post. :)
I will be happy to support you. I will be checking weekly to give you my stats and anything interesting to share.
My name is Violet, I'm 48 and live in AZ
Weight when started in CC 175 10/31/2009
Weight today 170.8
I'm 5'0" tall
My calorie goal is 1200 and my weight goal is 115. I know we can do this with constant support and positive reassurance!!
I support/need support too! It seems harder to me to lose the weight this time.
I'll check in too when I can remember...
My name is Megan, I'm 31 and live in TX
I just started a few days ago with CC starting weight 218.
Weight today is 215.5 :( YUCK!!
I'm 5'4 and my weight goal is 128.
It's gonna be slow for me to loose weight though, because I'm exercising ALOT more. I've been loosing more inches then pounds, but slow and steady right?
But ever since I've started CC I've logged my calories everyday and haven't gone over yet. :)
Phoenix3050, it's great to have you join us! Hey, going down 2.5 lbs in a few days isn't bad. Give yourself a pat on the back. I know when you have a lot to loose, it can be hard to be proud of the baby steps, but make sure you give yourself credit when it is due.
I also gain weight at the beginning of a muscle building exercise routine. Just keep sticking with it and the scale will respond. A good point is that you are raising your metabolism as you build that muscle, so when the scale does respond it will do so much faster. Anyway, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Just keep up the good work, and don't let that pesky scale discourage you! :)
Hey vifig, it's great to have you here. How have the past couple weeks been going for you?
~As for myself, this has been a hard week for me. I've been snacking too much, and I'm not even normally a snacker. I'm trying to find my motivation again, and I've done a lot better the last couple days. I'm just ready to see that scale start to drop again! I'm looking forward to loosing that first 20lbs, as I'm changing my profile picture each 20 lbs (as a sort of motivation tool). I can't wait to get rid of this first one! It's awful! :p
I would like to support and receive support from this group. I have been a member for a while, but never truly got serious about losing weight until this past March.
I started (again and for the last time) this past February with a SW of 219 (i am 5' 6").
My CW is 185.2 and have been on a slight plateau for a few months now. I say slight because when I started in March, the scale wouldn't budge (was weighing every week), but I was losing inches. Then the scales began keeping up, and now even though I have incorporated other forms of exercise to keep body guessing and not falling into a rut, the scale is showing slower and slower losses. This is the times that are most frustrating for me.
My ultimate GW is 135, but I have been setting small goals in increments, so my goal right now is to weigh 175 by Jan. 2010.
I will post, hopefully, every week, and thanks for creating this forum, it will be great to exchange ideas and tips throughout our journey and transformation.
It's great to have you join us reagang7! I look forward to reading your posts. :)
Here's a question for everyone: What do you do to stay motivated when you feel like giving up or cheating on your diet?
Hi! I am constantly self sabotaging myself. Basically all I have been doing is gaining 15 lbs a year for 5 years. I go on a diet and then self sabotage and end up right back where I started.
I am 217 and want to get down to 150 (or less). That's 67 + lbs ... my problem is I get lonely and then I eat. Or I get lazy and then don't want to cook. I crave junk food and fast food. It is insane basically. It has got to stop!
Hey mommiemandi. Well, for me the problem has been that I'm home all of the time. I take online courses, and I'm not working. Basically I always have access to food. What I've done is to make a list (sometimes a few) of things that I need to do: errands, chores around the house, phone calls, etc. I hang them in my kitchen so that if I start to get bored, I try to knock things off my list. As long as stay busy, I eat less. I also keep healthy things around that are easy to make so that I won't be as tempted to swing by a drive-through on the way home.
As for the self-sabotage thing, I'm awful at that too. I'm determined to not let that stop me this time around. Ever since I had my daughter in '07, I'll loose 30-40 lbs and then take a "break" from my diet. I usually gain at least most of the weight, if not more, back during those breaks. I'm trying to refocus my thinking this time, and I've been changing a lot of old habits. My willpower still gets tested, but I'm getting better at it. It's really hard to loose so much weight. Just the thought of it can be really discouraging. I try to remind myself that as long as I continue do my part, the results will follow. I know I won't even be close to looking how I want in two, even four months; I do know that I'll be thinner than now, and more importantly, healthier than I am today. I'm learning to look at it differently; to look forward to the slow yet constant results from loosing weight, and to not become impatient or discouraged about when that final result will come.
EEEK! I've gained back 3 lbs. All that hard work wasted :( I feel I'm starting from square one again. I HATE THANKSGIVING!!! But I'm not giving up!
Hi thinfor30:
Good to hear from you, funny thing about gaining 3 lbs after Thursday. Friday morning I could not believe my eyes, I had tried to be careful calorie wise, but it got me in the sodium - So Friday was the Water drinking marathon, and by Saturday I was down 4 lbs, so finally I was able to register weight loss on Sunday. Not bad!! I know about loosing the first 20 lbs, I have lost a total of 9.5 lbs so I have a little more to go but can't wait to clean my closet and get something nice to celebrate.
See you soon!
Violet
I also packed on a couple pounds over the holidays. I cut back my portions and avoided higher calorie foods, but w/out counting those nasty little calories, the scale did go up 2 lbs. Grrrr..... I've managed now to take that back off, and I'm trying to stick to my diet even more so than before. I have to say the thought of the Christmas weight gain scares me. I guess my plan is to do the same as Thanksgiving; portion control and avoiding terribly fattening foods. I hate to be counting every calorie when I have family staying w/ us. My question for everyone is: What is your plan to avoid the holiday weight gain? If you have any tips or strategies, we'd love to hear them!!!
vifig~ Awesome job on loosing so much over the weekend!!! That really shows your dedication!![]()
My plan is to increase my water intake. Before I started my plan, I drank about 6 glasses a day. Now I have increased to 10 and it helps, but starting today, I want to increase to 12 glasses a day. This really helps the body to regulate hunger and you can distinguish what is true hunger from cravings. Is not easy that all the "goodies" are so packed with calories. Not only sweets, be aware of sauces, gravies, dressings, portions and so on.
One last thing. Do not overstress when you gain a few pounds on this season, just keep possitive every morning and you will be able to succeed.
Have a great day,
Violet
