Post baby weight loss group anyone?
So, I noticed we don't actually have a group for post baby weight loss yet. Would anyone like to start a group for support, accountability (lol) or otherwise? I'm game. We are all in the same boat.
i'm game. add me in my dear! have to say i splurged a little bit today, but that splurge was a baked potato w/ low fat sour cream and an extra granola bar not in my daily foods!!
pants getting bigger. want to stay motivated and POSITIVE
I will join. I was just coming here to look for a thread about exactly this. When did you have your babies, how much have you lost and what do you have yet to lose? Reid was born April 8, I started out at 161 lbs and have lost almost 10 lbs, he is six months old now and that is not fast enough loss for me!! I actually haven't weighed myself in a few weeks (didn't want to be too obsessive about the number) so I am guessing I'm somewhere around 153 right now. I would like to be 145 by Christmas and 130 by Reid's first birthday. They say the weight loss gets harder with each child. Reid is my fourth and this has so far been true for me!

Slow and steady stays off! Just remember that. I had my daughter Oct. 4th and I am down 1 pound from my pre-pregnancy weight. I was looking to lose 8 pounds before I became pregnant though. That is where I stand now; 7 pounds away from goal. The number is nothing if the inches don't come off and I don't get toned though! That's my big goal. So far, it's going well.
Vanessa- I am glad to hear your pants are getting bigger. That is always better than your butt getting bigger. LOL! Baked potatoes are nearly fat free and low-cal and the sour cream has calcium and protien, right?? The granola bar I'm not sure about, but hey, no worries. No snickers in that splurge, so I think you're alright. I totally rushed to the movies with my daughter today and ended up eating movie theatre nachos for lunch and chocolate covered peanuts (for the protein). Dinner consisted of an apple with peanut butter and swiss cheese slices with a glass of milk. I called it redemption.
I don't think it was enough for either of us to gain. We'll be good tomorrow.
How do Friday weigh-in/measure-ins sound? That is when I do mine...before the weekend.
Fridays and Wed's are normally the days I weigh myself; so that works for me. Went to my mom's house, since my sister is down for the weekend with her girls. I didn't have any birthday cake; and I had a small portion of ziti to stay within my range. I DID have my dad top my wine off a little; but hey; a glass of wine still has less cals then a big fat piece of chocolate cake w/ chocolate icing!!!!
hi benjmum; i think you'll hit your goal with no problem at all!
shill- love the peanuts- def a source of protein!!!!!!!!!
Chocolate covered peanuts for protein!!
Hee hee!
I actually don't weigh in weekly so you guys go ahead without me. I weigh myself once a month on Reid's monthly birthday (the 8th of every month) so I will just report mine then. I'm trying not to get obsessed with the numbers on the scale so that's why I've chosen to do it this way.
Shill, how I wish I was only 7 lbs from my goal!!
What kind of exercise are you ladies doing? Right now I am not doing any cardio, although I should be and I want to try and work it into my day, but I am doing the hundred push-ups challenge. I'm on week 4 and it's hard but it sure is working and I'm hoping once I am finished I can continue doing push-ups as part of my workouts. My arms always need toning so hopefully this will do the trick, not to mention push ups are supposed to be good for keeping the bustline perky! ha ha.
I'm totally in for the weight loss group. I gained a total of 40 pounds while pregnant and have lost 20 already (John was born 10/10). I weight myself any time I visit my parents since I don't have a scale here. So far, I've been losing about 2.5 pounds every 4 days eating an 1800 calorie diet and breastfeeding. I've been eating healthy foods but haven't really been watching the portions so I really haven't been trying to lose weight, per se. 20 pounds left to get to my pre-pregnancy weight and an additional 15 pounds to get to what I weighed before I was pregnant with my first.
I am currently not exercising under doctor's orders (c-section 2 weeks ago..it's probably a little early to be hitting the gym). I have been trying to walk as much as possible but it's so cold here that I hate taking the baby out in it. I've considered walking at the mall and getting some early Christmas shopping done but I don't really have a solid schedule down with the baby.
I typically weight sometime on the weekends so I may post a day or so late if weigh-ins are on a Friday.
I love the idea of a weightloss group! Shill, do you want to start a thread for that, or do you want this one to be it?
Is anyone interested in having a weightloss group in the new CC+ groups? Or would we prefer to just do it here in the forums?
Posting here sounds good to me.
Hey, all! I'm basically at my pre-pregnancy weight (about 1 to 2 lbs away), but I was afraid that my lean muscle mass/fat ratios where all out of whack.
So I got some calipers because I couldn't seem to figure where I was going wrong and, sure enough, I am "lean/average", right where I was pre-preggo. It's ALL SKIN!! :(
My husband keeps assuring me that it's getting better every week and that once I stop breastfeeding (I'm working on that now, 6 months pp) things will probably re-align, but honestly, I'm worried.
Has anybody else here had kids before? Does the extra back/belly skin ever get back to normal?? Oi.
I've got four kids. And I think it really depends on the person. I would give yourself a good year before you start being really concerned about it because it usually takes me that long for it to get as small as it'll ever be. I have no hope of it ever going away for me, after 4 pregnancies and 3 of them being big babies (9.5 lbs and up), there's just too much of it. But I'm past caring. In hindsight, I *wish* I knew how lucky I was after my first baby to have no stretch marks, not be fat, and wear a wedding dress 2 months later without being able to tell I'd ever been pregnant. So although you might not think like this advice, I think you should be thankful that you are considered lean/average and just be patient with the extra skin. :)
No, that advice is great, thanks! Every little bit of hope helps. :)

With my first, I lost the weight but didn't get the flabby belly to go until I really started buckling down with the weight training. I had to build back the muscle mass and lose some body fat before I could lean over without a slight sag. I was skinny, just not toned in the tummy.
Once again, I am in the same boat almost 4 weeks postpartum. I have lost inches though and I am starting to see firmer tummy. I am just super impatient. It'll get there. You will too. ![]()
you all are really good, i just had my 3rd at 40, he is 5months and he is 20 years younger then my oldest...i am trying very hard to lose this weight,i am back at my before birth weight but now trying to lose what i started with...so far since i have been on CC, i am really paying attention to what i am eating and have been walking everyday,i am down 4lbs so that is a start, any tips on what i can to help the process along, just getting back into the swing of working out
Friday's here and I weigh in at 121 this morning. I lost a pound this week. Sweet.![]()
Ugh, well I'm back up to 123 from 121 last week. :/ But I'm gonna chalk it up to hot wings last night and water weight. :) I seem not to have budget weight-wise in almost a month, but that's why I got the calipers I guess. I will be totally happy to be 125 if it's all muscle! :)
I'm at 159 today, but I started my period yesterday. I really enjoyed not having one for so long! Anyway, I'm not logging that weight. I was 157 the day before, and I've been working out and counting calories like crazy, so I know I'm retaining water. Hopefully I'll have a better number next Friday!
hdfreema- I would totally blame the hot wings too.
Cecily- Smart move on not counting today. 2 pounds in one day is so to blame on water retention from a period. I am so glad I don't have an actual period while breastfeeding. I am still having some light bleeding occasionally though. My body is still off. I have a feeling my bloatedness is due to that. I will lose inches when that goes away.
The cold weather has me so unmotivated. That and Princess Tootie-Fart is a fussy butt when she's awake. She is sooo rotten. I've been doing good so far. I am going for a walk in a little bit. The weather will be mid 50's, so I gotta enjoy it while I can.
I weighed myself yesterday morning and I'm at 153. I really haven't lost anything since the end of August and that is really discouraging.
Count me in! This is my first post. I'm 10 weeks post partum with my second daughter and I can't exactly remember how much I weighed right after she was born, but I've been working out lightly for a few weeks and I've lost 6 pounds. I just recently began paying attention to making sure I eat ENOUGH calories. I'm breastfeeding/pumping fulltime, and I try to get in about 45 minutes on the Wii Fit every morning... I generally am able to do about 5 days per week. I'm also walking a couple miles on the weekend mornings but I can't during the week (I won't leave my kids in the house alone) so light exercise is my only option at this point. Eventually I'm going to work up the speed on my walks and start running but I'm so out of shape right now that I am going to take my time to let my body get adjusted.
Since I started working about about 3 weeks ago I've lost 6 lbs. I'm down to 227 and my long-term goal is to be at my ideal weight of 140 by Sophia's 2nd birthday.

You haven't gained either, so maybe it's just time to confuse your body and try something new. Are you doing the same workout routines?
Bdasko- Welcome to the boards and congrats on your little one. Good luck on your walk to run program. You'll be jogging before you know it.
