Post your favorite workout DVDs!
I'm a busy college student (with no car) and I often find it very hard to find time to go to the gym. I've turned to working out at home using DDR(dance dance revolution) and a DVD I recently brought featuring a woman named "Shpresa" who leads a really fun workout that is a mix of pilates tai chi and yoga. I am looking to expand my collection! Any input you guys can give is greatly appreciated.
She's good and under-rated.
I also have been on LA Weight Loss since October but I am a "slow loser" so I am trying to step up my excercize. I walk to work and back at a very brisk pace so that's 1 hour per day but I sit at a computer all day so I need other options. I am not a gym person so this is a cool post about favorite workout videos..
After a long rant here (I just signed up for this site today), I was hoping for more results with Bill Blanks... I can do the workout all the way through and no longer in pain the next day and I can breath normally all throughout the videos so maybe I'm just getting resistant to it, but I was hoping to see more results on the scale :( Either way it's a great workout!
This is a great 2 in 1 DVD by Leslie Sansone, "Walk Away the Pounds" it has 2 choices on one DVD, 1 or 2 mile. Great for any age group. Low impact, great for seniors also, as I'm 60 and it's a good one for me.
Fun to do with your kids, no jumping involved so it gets them moving with getting them hyper.
Also, I can't help it I love Richard Simmons, he makes me laugh.
My daughter bought 4 of his tapes on ebay. My favorite is Sweatin to the Oldies. Their old but they still work. I would try to convert them to dvd but I might get in trouble
:>)
It was also cheap $10 at walmart
The Boot Camp videos kill me. oh, those bands.... OWW!!!! I haven't done those videos in a long time... but boy oh boy, do they ever work fast fast fast!!!
I was in my best shape doing tae bo. Had a 4 pack, and like 14% body fat (Im a girl) Um... my fav. workout with Billy is the old school Get Ripped Advanced, and just the regular ol' Tae Bo Advanced.
Also, my other one I swear by is Callanetics. Its just so great. Boring because of so many reps........... but, the workout is so gentle, and super effective. Great for pear shapes... It got my waist down to 23" at my belly button, not sucking in either! www.callanetics.com Just wonderful!!
Tae Bo - Fat Blasting Cardio and Total Body Fat Blaster
I also love this 2-DVD set I just picked up at Target for $2.50 (!!) with Kathy Kaehler. Packaging is cheap, but I really like the workouts!

I started this discussion so people can share their favorite exercise dvds. I personally love exercise dvds because then you don't have to go to the gym and workout in front of all the skinny/muscular people. So what do you love? Why do you love it?
I have two favorites.
The Biggest Loser Workout 2- It has customizable plans....it has four different workouts that you can mix and match as you see fit. It also has a 6-week plan on it, so you don't have a customize, you just have it laid out for you. Bob is the trainer on it, which makes me happy because he is kind of the happy medium between Jillian and Kim. Also I love that the people on it are contestants and you can see them struggling with it too. There is something about seeing real people as opposed to super skinny health nuts like more workouts.
Paula Abdul's Get Up and Dance- I LOVE dancing. I was in show choir in high school and I was dance captain and everything. I absolutely love dancing, it was one of the best workouts ever in high school. So I found this (its from the mid-90s) and it is fantastic. Some of the dance moves are hard, so I wouldn't suggest it if you have no dance experience, or if you can't move quickly. But if you are interested in dance, and ever watched a Paula Abdul music video and wanted to dance like her, I STRONGLY recommend this. (And if you live in an apartment like I do, maybe warn the people that live below you.)

Netflix is awesome for trying out different fitness dvd's. It is great how long u can keep them, then send them back when you get bored!

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred...Its tough enough to where I dont want to do it everyday...3 times a week is good. (until I get in better shape) It's broken up in three different levels, so you can move up to the next level when you get ready.

all I've managed to do so far is just go online and read about DVD's. There are so many out there that it is just mind boggling for me. I have been trying to find something for beginners as I am not young anymore and I want something that I feel I can stick with - any suggestions?

I love the "Dance Off the Inches" series. My favorites are Hip Hop Party and Sizzlin Salsa. I love to dance, and these videos really make it fun!

pretty much, the most AMAZING workout ever is the p90x program. If youre really serious about getting in shape, you HAVE TO get p90x, but its really extreme, you have to administer a self fitness test to see if youre ready to "bring it". The first couple work outs were hard, but im a week into the program and it is sooOO GREAT! ive done i think 7 or 8 workouts now, and im already seeing CRAZY AWESOME results in my body, and my physical stamina. Does anyone else do p90x?

I love Leslie Sansone DVD's. I have most of her workouts but my favorites right now are her new series Walk Yourself Slim. They are only being sold at select Target Stores right now.
If any of you haven't heard of Leslie I will explain a little about the workouts.
My favorite is Punch up your walk. It is a 4 mile walk with arm movements using the gloves.
Walk off ten pounds comes with a pedometer and is a solid and fast 3 miles.
Walk off your belly, Bun;s and Thigh's Slim Down which comes with a fit cuff that goes around your ankles so you can do toning exercises at the end of the workout.
I was so impressed with these workouts that I went back and bought the other 3. One, Walk Off Even More Weight is 2, 2 mile walks with a weighted belt.
Another is a great 5 miler with a stretchie and one is the 3 mile calorie blast with a walk belt.
I was able to use a coupon for each walk I bought. Click on the Region link and you will find the coupon.
