Post-Honeymoon Blues.. Need Help :(
Hey All,
I've been on and off this site for years now, from an all-time high (172) to a really healthy, great looking 143-146 for the past year or so. I got married May 15 (and looked awesome and fit!) then went to my 10 day honeymoon in Greece. Needless to say, the eating and drinking was CRAZY (and delicious). I've been having trouble staying motivated to get those honeymoon lbs off... and I think I packed on a couple more here or there over these summer weekends which are pretty much all food-centric activities. I've kept up with the gym (4-5 days a week at least), it's the eating and drinking that has gotten me.
I'm now up to 152 and all my clothes are tight... And feeling so freakin sad. It was nice to leave the scale behind for a bit, but I'm realizing now that I can't do that.. I just need some ideas/advice.. I'm moments away from crazy master cleanse lemonade and/or 900 calorie a day restricting, which I know is a crappy idea.
Can you help? Save me CC Buddies!
You that those crazy diets don't work...
Remember eat right (lots of veggies, fruit, lean protien, water, water, water!
Maybe step up the gym a little...
You can do it the healthy way!
Thanks MissJaylene...I just have trouble reminding myself that 5-6 lbs isn't the end of the world. For instance, I'm totally bummed out and a total drag today as all I can think about is the stupid 152 number... :(
Don't get down on yourself, you lost the weight once, and you CAN do it again!! You just had an amazing honeymoon and you deserved to enjoy it. I am getting married in 6 months and plan to enjoy myself on my 10 night honeymoon as well.
Just start counting your calories again, log all your food. Take it one day at a time. I bet if you start eating healthy, fruits, veggies, lean protein, complex carbs, you will see a few pounds fall right off because a lot of your gain is water weight.
Focus on cardio, add a few extra minutes to get a little extra calorie burn.
Just start over from scratch, like this is day 1 for you on Calorie Count. Don't do anything like a cleanse, all that will do is make you drop water weight that will come right back on once you eat again. Give yourself two weeks, I bet you can drop that weight.
The same thing happened to me after my honeymoon. In the month after my wedding I went up 10 pounds! It's definitely hard to get back on track, particularly if you were using your wedding as motivation to drop the weight. For me, it was just about recommitting to staying within my calorie limits, and actually logging my foods. I logged 5 days a week and then loosened up on the weekend (without going crazy!) and managed to drop the 10 pounds in about 2 months.
You can definitely do it!
Don't feel bad! After an original weight loss of about 30 lbs, 5-6 lbs will not be that hard to lose!
If this makes you feel any better, your post has actually inspired me.....I am right now at my all-time high of 170 and would like to lose about 30 lbs, as I am getting married sometime next year as well. It's really nice to see someone else with the same stats who was successful!
It's totally understandable that you would gain a few pounds with all of the bridal shower/bachelorette party/wedding/honeymoon eating and drinking. And now that all of that is over, you just have to work on getting back on a program. You'll lose the extra weight fast, don't worry! :)
Thanks everyone!
I am feeling a lot better. I have logged everything today and will log my exercise as well. I like the idea of "starting from scratch," because that's all it really is, isn't it? The weight I lost or gained years ago has nothing to do with the weight I put on in the past month. It's all new.. so it needs a new perspective.
No lemonade diet for me... :) THanks all! I love my CC Buds.
FYI.. today:
Breakfast: 0% fage greek yogurt w 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup fit granola
Snack: Banana
Lunch: 1 cup brown rice (steamed), 2 cups steamed veggies, 1 cup steamed chicken, 2 tbsp no sodium chicken-based sauce.
Oh and PS.. JMD22 - glad I could be inspirational! It's a long road but we can do it!
I am in the same boat(minus the honeymoon) I went on vacation at the end of October, and have noticed my eating habits have not been right since then. I have put on about 5 pounds myself. Everytime I think about it I get pretty down in the dumps. However, I keep telling myself if I was able to control my eating habits well enough to lose 40 pounds, I can lose the 5 no problem! Just remember, every day is a NEW day. Don't beat yourself up for the choices you made yesterday, just focus on starting over and being as healthy as you can. Good luck, you can do it!
