Post Meals, Share Information, Weigh in every Monday! Everyone welcome

Quote  |  Reply

Hi Everyone,

*So I've revised this group because I want to be able to share information, get ideas, and be held accountable.  I think by having more members that I will benefit more from it!

Since there are a lot of us Maritimers here I thought I would create a group where we can connect and have weekly weigh-ins.  I'm also going to track my inches because losing inches is my main target right now.

I'll be posting my starting stats tomorrow morning and we'll have the weekly weigh-in every Monday!  Maybe this will help us curve our weekend appetites :)

Please add anything else you wish to share ..i.e receipes, daily menu, workouts etc.

Thanks for getting this going Jenn! Hey, I have a quick question that a friend and I were wondering- you know on your account home page where it says how many calories you have to burn and how many currently burned- is the top number your BMR? Because when you enter an activity in it ups the cal #. Just wondering!

Hmm, since we're starting tomorrow morning I suppose I should put this donut down! Smile

Hey Steph...

To be quite honest, I'm not really sure what that does.  I don't really use this site for logging my calories, etc.  Maybe I should? but don't know how to use it really.  I mainly come on to read the threads and get counts on certain foods :)

I'll look into it a bit further though and see if I can figure it out.

Happy weigh in tomorrow!! I'm scared ...

This weekend has been awful for me!! I can just imagine the scale ...yikes!

And I'm still craving CHOCOLATE!

I'll join. I've been kinda off the wagon for a few weeks, so I think joining a group might be a good idea.

I'll post tomorrow with stats :)

I'm not really in this group, as I don't fit the prerequs, but I thought I could answer the questions.

On the home page, it says how many calories you will burn by midnight tonight (total estimate), and how many you have burned as of right now. If you add exercise, you will see both numbers adjust. The eat meter is how much food you have logged and how much you have set your daily goal (in acct settings) to be.

Nothing on CC+ does your BMR - but you can figure it out. Either go to http://www.bmi-calculator.net/, or, if you have your activity level set to sedentary, divide your total estimate of burn (without any activities logged) by 1.2 and that will equal BMR. BMR is not changed by doing exercise that day - it is a formula for the amount your body is estimated to burn if you were in a coma, just based on your gender, age, height, weight.

Hope that helps.

I dont fit the prereqs either but I was hoping you dont mind I join as well, since I NEED some extra motivation.  I have 6 weeks left until my sisters wedding and I want to feel healthy in my dress.

I'm doing "at home weight watchers" and have lost +/- 10lbs so far but need that extra 8 or so.  I am currently 150 at 5'8".  I was a healthier 140lbs this time last year, but life happened at I gained grief weight, and I'm finally ready to take it off.  Please help!!

My menu for today:

1/2 cup milk,
1 cup cheerios,
2 tbsp fat free french vanilla cream w/my coffee,
laughing cow cheese wedge with 7 triscuits
1 med banana
1 cup progresso light soup
6 oz light n' fit vanilla yogurt

(havent figured out whats for dinner yet)

1 hour rebounding cardio class and 1 hour weight training class

The more the merrier!!

Here's where I'm at:

Height- 5'6"       Current weight- 125.2pds     Goal weight- 110-115

waist- 30"

hips/thighs (I don't really know where one ends and the other begins)- 37"

 Todays menu:

Breakfast- 1 C Raisin Bran Crunch & 1/2 C 1% milk with 2 tsp flaxseed sprinkled on

Lunch- 1 1/4 C of homemade chili with about 15 Tostitos rounds, donut

The donut is not good, I know, but the good news about eating it is it was the last one and now there is none to tempt me! :P

Supper- the plan is chicken and vegetables, depending on how the cal count is looking, I might add 1/2 C of brown rice.

To make sure that I do it, as soon as I post this, I'm going to go and jump rope as a warm up and then lift some weights.

Jenn, how do you prepare your oatmeal? I know it's really healthy but everytime I try making it, it tastes like soggy cardboard bits.

Ok, I said it, now it's time to do it- workout time. Have a good day everyone!!

Looks great!!

Steph-I tried to reply to you but it says I can only send 2 msg's a day?? Do you know how to fix this? As for measuring - I measure my bust, waist and hips....Let me know if you need to know anymore.  Oatmeal, I have the weight control prepackaged stuff you get at superstore/sobeys.  I only add about 1 cup of boiling water, not much to it and doesn't always taste that great but it does keep me full longer!

I did horribly at eating yesterday :(  Hoping I can stay on track this week.

Thanks for the support!

ANYONE who wants to can join this group...I was just hoping to find some fellow maritimers/canadians :)

I think you can find the answers to problems with your mailbox by clicking help on the bottom of your screen and it gives you a bunch of FAQ's. Try this one:

Mailbox - how does Private Messaging work?

Unfortunately I couldn't get it as a link. That's strange about the amount of msgs you can send- I haven't had that problem and have sent more than 2 in a day.  I've had problems replying though. Maybe if you try to send as a brand new message you won't have that restriction?

About the oatmeal, is it the Quaker weight control stuff or a generic brand? Do you add any milk or fruit? (as you can see, I know nothing about oatmeal unless it is in a cookie!!) And when you measure your hips, is that the "thickest" area? Lower? Higher?

On a side note, did you know that you are supposed to eat your BMR daily? At least, I think that's what one member was saying on a forum post. You calculate your BMR by taking the cal # you need to maintain and dividing by 1.2. If that's the case, I've been under eating by about 300 calories a day. No wonder I'm not losing!

138 this morning (Going in the worng direction... eep!)
my goal is 125.
Height: 5'6"

Today's Menu:
breakfast: coffee and an apple (not much of a breakfast person) <~160 cal>
Lunch: brocolli soup with a roll <~400 cal>
Supper: Baked potato with cheese sauce, corn and carrots <~500 cal>
Snacks:
chocolate turtle <80>, blueberries + 1 Tbsp sugar <100> (baked = yummy!), biscuits <160>
===
1400 calories

also doing a 60 minute step class today, where the last 15 minutes is just stretching/cool down.

Steph,

Its 9 o'clock and so far I've curved my hunger by sipping on a hot chocolate (230 cals) but still..much better than binging!!!

Still can't figure the message thing out..might have to send a msg and find out from admin or something.

I think this site will really help me keep to my goals :)  I'm going to buy a bikini from Victoria's Secret and that will be my goal outfit!! If I look good in it i'm sure i'll look good in my wedding dress.

The oatmeal I eat is Quaker, Weight Control (love cinnamon)...I just use the hot water, nothing else in it...I usually have a banana or grapefruit with it.

I did some sort of meter (how many cals you should eat if you are trying to lose weight) and it said I should eat 1500 cals a day!  What do you think??

That's great about your choice of hot chocolate!! Me? Well, I just ate a whole bunch of chips...have I mentioned that I'm an emotional eater?! Anyways, I might go for a stationary bike ride to counter-effect my slip-up :(

That whole cal thing, I'm not sure. I think I'm going to try 1500 (my BMR). If that's what I burn even if I were in a coma, then I think I should at least eat that much to keep my body functioning properly. I suppose the worst that can happen is I'll start to notice an upward trend and I can stop it before it goes too far. But if I never try it, my weight might not budge anyways, so what do I have to lose? I was given this link to calculate my BMR:

 http://nutrition.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp? Calc=Daily-Metabolism ;

for 41 other related health and fitness calculators by the same company click click.

and this one which has more of a breakdown for your activities and so on:

http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm#

I like the idea about buying a goal bikini. I'll just be so happy to fit into my clothes again! I can't stand the tightness of most of my jeans so when I'm around the house I kick around in sweats- my husband is getting tired of the slob look I've got going on! :D

I've noticed that everybody on here that posted what they ate today have really good healthy food choices- I've got to step up!!

Yeah, I was quite proud of myself!  I usually eat enough in one night to feed 3 teenage boys lol.

I'm going to stick with 1500 cal/day too...I think its just enough for me without starving to death!  Thanks for the links though, I'm going to check them out later today.

I'm excited about the goal bikini, I haven't wore one for a few years and really think its about time I stop hiding and wear one for god sake!!  I love wearing sweats too when I'm home...jeans are TOO tight...yuck.  Everyone is doing very well.  Here is what I'm eating today..not much because I've been fighting a cold and just feel like crap today.

Breakfast: 1 Hard Boiled Egg, Bran Muffin (made by moi),Half Grapefruit

Snack: Carrots & Hummus

Lunch: Gardennay Red Pepper & Black Bean soup

Snack: Activia yogurt, cucumber slices

Dinner: hmmmm...probably Tuna Helper ..hehe, I know not great but I forgot to take something out of the freezer this morning :)

Evening snack: Hot Chocolate or Popcorn

Walk 30 min to from work

Walk 20 min with Molly

Pilates for 30 min

 Happy Tuesday Everyone :)
