Post Meals, Share Information, Weigh in every Monday! Everyone welcome
Hi Everyone,
*So I've revised this group because I want to be able to share information, get ideas, and be held accountable. I think by having more members that I will benefit more from it!
Since there are a lot of us Maritimers here I thought I would create a group where we can connect and have weekly weigh-ins. I'm also going to track my inches because losing inches is my main target right now.
I'll be posting my starting stats tomorrow morning and we'll have the weekly weigh-in every Monday! Maybe this will help us curve our weekend appetites :)
Please add anything else you wish to share ..i.e receipes, daily menu, workouts etc.
Jenn (NS)
opalaurora, I have broken the after 9 snacking rule more than I've kept it! I should put a sticky note on my cupboard and fridge that says closed at 9...might help keep me in check. Would it help if you only had healthy snacks (please don't ask me whats in my cupboard
) like 100 cal serving microwave popcorn or baby carrots? That way you could snack without feeling bad about it! :) Or possibly if you went to a friends room or a lounge to work you wouldn't be thinking about snacking. Then again, you might not get much work done either! :P
I'm really excited for today, I'm going out with a bunch of girlfriends this evening for shopping and eating. The last time we went out I did alright with the eating- when we went to DQ for Blizzards, I ran to the Tim Hortons next door and got myself a beautiful medium double double (coffee supresses hunger for me) and today I plan on eating before we leave so that I'm not very hungry when we hit the restaurant. So wish me luck!
B- Shreddies, 1%milk, flaxseed
L- chicken sandwhich on multigrain, salad, fat free pudding
snack- apple, 2 cups of coffee
How'd you make out last night Jenn?
Jenn, I'm impressed with your self control (only 1 piece of each). And congrats on the new number! Breaking into lower numbers always feels so good, haha.
Steph: yeah, I've been trying to study elsewhere lately. it helps...until i get back to my room. and coffee makes me less hungry too. thats why i love it! (that and the caffeine. I'm totally addicted). I also find that drinking coffee with dessert brings out the flavor so I savor it instead of shoveling it into my mouth.
both of you!
This is strange, but on days that I shop, I run a greater calorie deficit than days that I exercise, haha. I LOVE SHOPPING and I get so shop-crazed that I forget to eat and time just flies. plus, walking around for a whole day and trying on clothes is cardio. carrying heavy shopping bags full of good buys is strength training. ![]()
I should go shopping everyday! My wallet and I would both be slimmer.
Did you run into the rain an snow last night Jenn? The girls and I hit it on our way home (I live in the sticks, an hour outside of the city) - WTG with the weight loss!
Opa, the way I see it is if a coffee with real cream and sugar at x cals can help me avoid eating something that is 300 cals, I'm in! While my friends were eating alfredo, ceasar salads and plate sized pieces of pizza, I was happily eating my chicken yakisoba. And I had 2 cups of coffee during the course of the evening, which is a nice indulgence for me- I never drink it around the house. Speaking of shopping, have you ever been to the Waltham village outlets? I LOVE shopping there! It's about 45 mins south of Boston.
I was going to try to keep it to myself until Monday, but I've got to tell you girls that I've lost weight this week! Yay! I updated my ticker so you could see it there, otherwise I'll tell you in a couple of days (and hope that I don't gain it back before then!)
I have really been looking forward to this morning! Here's the numbers:
SW-126
Week 1- 125.2, Week 2- 124.2, Week 3- 123.4 , Week 4- 124.2 , Today- 120.2
Quite a jump from last week to this week, and there's 2 main reasons- a lot of exercise (cardio), and it was TTOM.
Yesterday, wow what a day! I was running all day going on less than 4 hours of sleep- 4 cups of coffee barely kept me going. I would've had more had I been able to get some at all of the functions I attended.
B- Shreddies, 1%milk, flaxseed
L- chili, tortilla chips, fat free choc pudding
Supper- mixed veg and chicken
Snacks- apple with PB, maybe a granola bar
Tonight I'm going to a baby shower and I'm sure to have some sort of sandwiches and sweets there. Which reminds me, I need to go and make some to take! Good luck to all of you!
wow! great job. I'm jealous, haha.
unfortunately my scale showed that I gained this week
sw: 130
wk1: 129
wk2: 131.5
wk3: 128.9
today: 129.5
*sigh* I dont get it. I've been stuck at 130 since february! oh well. I'm not extremely unhappy with 130, so I'm not too upset. I think that's part of the problem though, because I treat myself more often now that I'm at a semi-comfortable weight.
more self control and more patience!
good luck to the rest of you!

I've had a gain since Monday- don't feel too bad about it. I'm at 122 today. I haven't exercised or drank much water at all in the past 2 days, and I've eaten pretty poorly (I ate out yesterday and went to a baby shower on Monday). I'm wondering if these fluctuations that seem strange are due to water retention. For example, we know that it takes 3500 calories to gain a pound, but most of us don't overeat by that much and still see a 2 or 3 pound difference on the scale. So it's not a true weight gain. Does this make sense to anyone else as well? Or am I disillusioning myself?! :D
Jenn, it looks like you're hardly eating anything!! I would be starving if I only ate that! lol
B- Shreddies, 1% milk, flaxseed
L- chili and tortilla chips
Supper- w/w pasta, mixed veg, beef strips
Snacks- rice crackers, 2 ladies fingers, apple, banana
Have you gotten outside to jog lately Jenn? The weather here is incredible! When I was in town yesterday I had on jeans, a tank top and my sandals! I'm loving these 15C days!
"oh well. I'm not extremely unhappy with 130, so I'm not too upset. I think that's part of the problem though, because I treat myself more often now that I'm at a semi-comfortable weight."
I'm the same Opa. When I start to lose weight and feel comfortable enough, I think maybe I sabotage myself a bit by allowing myself more treats. I'm hoping to avoid that!
Welcome, luvmyboy!
I hope you are right about the water retention! You have to be....we definitely don't over eat that much. I think my problem was that I ate a lot of foods that were high in salt and I drank mostly pop all weekend, no idea why I did that...so I think the water I drank the last couple days is just staying in! I'm finally over my dehydration I think, been running to the bathroom like mad.
I know I didn't have much on my plan for today, but I also ate a banana, 1 cup popcorn and an activia! Need to try and pack a better lunch tomorrow, things are just so hectic!
Steph - Where did you say you went to find info on the zigzag diet you were talking about...where you cals are different everyday? I think I might try it.....I have another big weekend with friends coming up, love my friends but hate all the food/booze we consume :(
Finally feeling normal again after my binge weekend.
B: 1 slice of toasted weight watchers ww bread, 1/2 cheese slice, 1 scrambled egg white and 1 slice of bacon, grapes
S: almonds, banana
L: Pita bread w/skim mozz, carrots, activia
S: 8 crackers, grapes
D: Pita pizza, BIG salad
Hope you all have a wonderful day! :)

Here's the site I was talking about. I used to follow it pretty spot on when I started, but now if I have a day where I ate more than my alloted amount, I eat less the next day even if I was supposed to eat more. It works better for me than trying to eat the same calorie amount everyday. Good luck if you decide to try it!
Yesterday started out well for me, right according to schedule, but I ended up having a date night with hubby, so I had a high sodium (but lowish cal) meal, and we shared a McFlurry. Went to see a movie afterwards and didn't get any snacks but just breathing in all of that salty popcorn-smelling air was probably enough to make me retain water! lol
Before you get together with your friends, do you think it would help if you ate an hour beforehand? That way you might not feel like eating or drinking near as much because you'll be full of good stuff!
Thanks for the info Steph, maybe I'll just try and do what you do. If I eat too much one day, just lower my cals the next! I'm feeling so much better today, and the walk wasn't as tiring this morning either!
Good job on no popcorn at the movie! I would have been all over that, I can't resist.
I think maybe I will eat before hand. I'm just really going to try and make healthy choices. As far as drinking goes, I only do it on special occassions, this being one of them...and I'm not a huge drinker. I think I'll get vodka and water that way I don't get all the other sugars from the flavored mix with it. I guess I'll have to do lots of dancing to burn off any calories I do consume! Wish me luck :)
This morning started out really bad and I wasn't able to eat any breakfast or bring anything to work with me! Should be interesting........
Only thing as of now that I'll be eating is water and subway for lunch........ :(
Dancing is a great way to burn calories- I love doing it but I'm afraid I probably look like Elaine from Seinfeld, so I just dance in the kitchen with my kids! lol
I can feel myself slipping back into the mindset of "I've lost weight, so I can have some extra treats and then eat well tomorrow". The problem is that it becomes a habit and I'm back at the start, so I've really got to buckle down. Last night I ate 4 slices of pizza! And the worst of it- I wasn't even really hungry. Hubby was eating and it was there so I ate. Today I'm hoping to do better.
B- Shreddies, 1%milk, flaxseed
L- Chili and tortilla chips, 4 meatballs
Supper- mixed veg and chicken
Snacks- apple, granola bar, 4 ladies fingers
Have fun this weekend Jenn!
I'm sure you aren't as bad as Elaine ;) Dancing is so much fun! I've actually decided not to drink, I'm going to be the DD :) I can have fun no matter what so I thought that would help! Hopefully it will ward off the midnight drunk cravings lol.
Steph, don't worry about the pizza, I've been there done that.....You eat great almost everyday, hang in there! Let's shoot for a great weight in on Monday, or at least a loss :p
Have a wonderful weekend EVERYONE!
Being the DD is a great way to keep yourself accountable! Hope you have a fun evening!
Everyday this week I've been watching the scales go up up up, I've really got to get back in focus. So I've decided to try something different. One problem I've had lately is posting what I plan on eating, but I always end up deviating from the plan. So I've come up with something that I hope will keep me accountable- I'm going to post what my eating/exercise goals are for the day, and at the end of the day I'm going to update what I did (or didn't) do. So here's what's up for today:
B- 1C Shreddies, 1/2C 1%milk, 1Tbsp flaxseed (check)
L- PB sandwich on multigrain, 2C salad fixings with 2Tbsp dressing (whoops, didn't have lettuce, so went with 1C chili and 10 rounds instead)
Supper- 1/2C w/w pasta, 2C mixed veg, 5 strips of chicken, 2Tbsp sauce (check)
Snacks- apple, granola bar, rice crackers (check)
If I follow this to the letter, I'll be at around 1200 cals and have an extra 250 to play with when I get home from work.
Exercise today: 30 minutes of weight lifting (I haven't done it for almost 2 weeks!)-(25 mins), 800 cals on bike.(900 cals)
I also had 2 cups of coffee, 10 mini chips ahoys, and 1/3 of a cookies & cream chocolate bar.
Yesterday I went overboard, but I got my exercise in at least :) Here's hoping that I won't eat more than I should (of the wrong type of things) today;
B- Shreddies, 1%milk, flaxseed (check)
L- 1C chili, 15 rounds, apple (check)
Supper- broiled pollock, 2C mixed veg, 2Tbsp sauce (had 4 meatballs instead of the fish)
Snacks- 1/2 C Kit Kat ice cream with teddy grahams added in, 20 rounds and salsa, apple, rice cracker (check)
Exercise- 800 cals on bike (984)
I'm not looking as forward to tomorrow morning as I was last week, but am glad that I've gotten back on track.
I have the exact same problem of deviating from my posted plan.
Also, I checked out that link you posted and it's so helpful! Well, it's a bit depressing since I calculated the earliest date that I'd reach my goal weight and I've got a while to go, not to mention I fall off the wagon frequently.
Jenn, I wish I were as good as you with the alchy. I definitely went overboard this weekend with drinks and then the sobering up munchies. I gave myself full permission to indulge this weekend though, so I'm not beating myself up about it.
see you guys tomorrow for a hopefully good weigh in!!
opa, your goal date can't be too awfully far away- you're 5'4" and looking to get down to 120? At 0.5-1pd per week, you could be there by summer! I've got 10pds to go myself and can almost taste it but some days it does seem elusive! Just think of it this way: 1 pound per week x 10pds = 10 weeks which is only 2 1/2 months! Just in time for bathing suit weather! And if it takes longer, as long as it's coming off more than it's going on! lol
I think it's a good thing to permit yourself to indulge in moderation- if I didn't I would be more likely to binge on my forbidden fruit! (chips and chocolate).
