Post Meals, Share Information, Weigh in every Monday! Everyone welcome
Hi Everyone,
*So I've revised this group because I want to be able to share information, get ideas, and be held accountable. I think by having more members that I will benefit more from it!
Since there are a lot of us Maritimers here I thought I would create a group where we can connect and have weekly weigh-ins. I'm also going to track my inches because losing inches is my main target right now.
I'll be posting my starting stats tomorrow morning and we'll have the weekly weigh-in every Monday! Maybe this will help us curve our weekend appetites :)
Please add anything else you wish to share ..i.e receipes, daily menu, workouts etc.
Jenn (NS)

I finally told two of my friends about my problem and asked them to help me through it. They've both been really supportive, but I feel guilty using them as my therapists, haha. I'll learn to deal with this on my own soon, though. 2 days binge free! =o)
That had to've been hard Opa, it sounds like you're definitely heading on the right track. Having someone to keep you accountable can make a big difference! Don't feel bad about having help from your friends, that's what they're there for!! You know yourself best but I would caution you to not restrict yourself too much, it could maybe set you up for a binge (been there). If you always tell yourself no no, you might be more likely to overdo it if you give in. IMO, it's better to have a little bit more often if it helps you in the end, even if it slows down the weight loss.
Yay for 2 days!! :D

It is AWESOME that you have great friends who you feel comfortable talking to. You just freed yourself of the hiding & shame... I am just in awe of your bravery! You shouldn't feel guilty! Friends are like therapists who know you better & don't charge you money! (not to diminish the benefit of a therapist)
God, lil smokies are mini smoked sausages. OMG you guys! Sodium overload!
HA! Queenmedia! I have totally spent 80+ there! Dishes, clothes, towels, blankets, chalkboards, crafts, toys AHHHH!! I could go crazy!! It makes me curious how much people spend at "normal" stores...!!!
Freecycle & craigslist are AWESOME too!! I haven't tried kijiji... I thought it was a typo ![]()
Sooo... last night I indulged in a whiskey & soda. I had a long day of cleaning house & wanted a little sauce in my life. Anyway, this am I'm 115 & I know it's from the alcohol! Dehydration! Ugh! What a ****!
I'm going to go drink 5lbs of water ![]()

Yeah I know! It has "spoiled" the mall shopping experience for me. Why would I go to American Eagle and spend $50 on a pair of jeans when I can get the same ones for $5 at a thrift store?! The downside is I actually end up spending more in the long run...
I think kijiji might just be a Canadian site (there might be a ".com" version for the States, not sure) Otherwise the closest kijiji city to you is probably Vancouver.
I had to laugh about the high sodium, causes fluid retension sausages and the dehydrating whiskey- funny! :D

Good luck this weekend everyone!
Opa, don't feel bad about turning to your friends for support, that's what they are there for and I'm sure they are happy to help!
Oh ladies, I didn't know how much others liked Value Village....I here ya on the American Eagle stuff there Steph...I just bought a BRAND new or looked brand new to me pair of jeans from AE and I love them :) And...they were $7!! I also bought a Jones New York jacket there $40 but it is brand new, still had the tags on it!! I love getting good finds...I have a hard time at frenchies because you have to dig but VV rocks because it's all hung up like a store!!!
Feeling much better today, but not much appetite.
Ate some pinapple and a slice of bread for lunch, had a small bowl of ice cream this afternoon and just finished off a small chicken fajitas I made with some chicken, green & red peppers, salsa and sour cream!! Felt good to eat something solid that isn't bread :p
Here's to a good weekend :)
Ok. My finest score at Value Village was a pair of vintage red pointy toe Ferragamo flats for $1.99. No kidding! Good thing too, because within hours of putting them on I spilled some type of liquor on them that caused permanant spots. WTF? Can you believe that not only did someone pay $200+ for them, but they kept them in fantastic shape for at least 10 years before I destroyed them. VALUE VILLAGE I LOVE YOU!
coffee w/ sf vanilla syrup
1/2 cup bacon wrapped chicken breast (yes for breakfast)
4 Tbsp Reddi Whip Fat Free (don't even ask)
Crystal Lite To Go with clubsoda
Sleepytime Tea (ahh)
1/2 oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (250 calories OMG!)
2 scratch margaritas
1 oz peice of local bakery rosemary bread + salt
1/2 "spring" salad with local creamery blue cheese (it's **** snowing)
Skirt steak on a bed of fiddle ferns, savoy & wild forraged mushrooms (we had a babysitter tonight) that were probably sauteed in butter
and the verdict is: 1296 of super saucy calories. I hear ice cream with reddi whip, strawberries & sprinkles calling...
Alrighty, I thought that because I spent so much time on the bike yesterday I was going to have too high of a deficit, so I ate poutine. Yeaaah. The scales didn't seem to thing that was such a good idea this morning. Deficit be darned I guess! :)
Today is a work day and it always makes it interesting for me- packing a lunch and only eating what I bring. So I make sure to make it when I'm full and take some decent things to eat that won't get me in trouble!
B- 1C Honey Nut Cheerios, 1/2C 1%milk (check)
L- Chicken sandwich on multigrain, apple, rice crackers (check)
Supper of sorts- banana, apple, fat free chocolate pudding, moccaccino bar (yuppers)
I'll likely eat something else sometime this evening, I'll update tonight (1 slice of pizza, some poutine, moccaccino bar)
Exercise- 500 cals on bike (working on it, but really just feel like going to bed)
What's everyone doing this weekend?
Wow! The weather here today is outrageous...loving it. I'm feeling much better today, still have the hacky cough but I can deal with that. I got up early this morning to go pick up my wedding invitations :) My mom and dad are coming down tomorrow from Parrsboro to help me address them and get them ready to go!! Exciting stuff...
Went shopping today, my hubby to be needed some new duds and of course I got a few things too :p I'm really liking how things are fitting me now...
Even though I feel better I've still only managed a banana and a little bit of rice and kung pow chicken from ManchuWok. Going to try some salad and chicken wrap with lots of salsa for dinner!
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend!
Man, I'm glad people are feeling better. Cold season seems to have lasted the entire year ![]()
Queenmedia, I've always wanted to try this poutine of which you speak. I've been to Vancouver too many times to count & still haven't found the bravery. There must be something to it. No Canadian I know will even bother with plain American fries. Plus, gravy is awesome. I expect it's even awesomer over the top of fries with a belly full of beer.
So. Today I've already resigned to maintenance. I'm meeting some old friends at Ho Soon Yi for a korean extraveganza. Bulgogi is super healthy, but seafood pancake? God! It's my favourite. I will not deny myself and refuse to feel "Bad", but man! I really haven't been commited this week! Next week you will see cleaner meals with commited numbers!
Also, today I've had 2 oatmeal cookies, 1/2 turkey sandwich on lite bread, carrots, peas & a Crystal Lite. Ewwww!!!
Tomorrow is a new opportunity!
OH! Carley!! You've got to try poutine!! It's not just fries and gravy, it's also smothered in cheese! If you're a ketchup person like myself, you cover the whole works with it until it's a big soupy mess!
*drool* I'm having a Homer Simpson moment here...
That's exciting stuff about getting the invites Jenn. You must be glad to see everything coming together- are you having a big wedding? I had about 150 guests at mine. Strange now to think that I planned my wedding when I was 18! Couldn't have done it without my husband (he helped with everything) and my Mom.
B- 1C Honey Nut Cheerios, 1/2C 1%milk (check)
L- 1 slice thin crust pizza, apple with PB (check)
Supper- 3C mixed veg, beef strips, 2Tbsp sauce (and 1/2 w/w rice)
Snacks- moccaccino bar, apple, 1 Chips Ahoy cookie, 100 cal bag of popcorn (2 ladies fingers, fat free chocolate pudding, rice crackers, Cookies n creme chocolate bar)
Exercise- 900 cals on bike (1059), 20 mins of weights (I just can't scrape up the motivation to do it!)
Hope things are going well with you Opa!
Week 1- 125.2, Week 2- 124.2, Week 3- 123.4 , Week 4- 124.2 , Week 5- 120.2, Week 6- 123.2
Today- 120.8
It's funny, I'm not quite as excited today to see that number for a few reasons- 1) I keep track of my weight everyday and I see it bobbing around anywhere from 120-123 depending on the day. For instance, 2 days ago I was weighing 123.6. Knowing that it's so based on fluid retention and loss takes some of the joy out of it. 2) I don't know about the rest of you, but I have days when I wake up and feel thinner, like I know it's going to be good when I step on the scales. Wasn't feeling it this morning...maybe it's left over feelings of guilt from having so many empty calories last evening.

S: Diced Pears
L: Cup of Soup, Activia Yogurt
D: ???
I'm still here =o)
I was gone this weekend at a sports tournament and injured myself, so I won't be exercising for a while, which sucks, but oh well.
I had another bad binge and a small binge, but I'm still trying to learn from these experiences.
So far today:
bfast - iced coffee, scone
lunch - turkey salad, piece of baguette
planned snack - luna bar
planned dinner - erm...something light? no idea
sw: 130
wk1: 129
wk2: 131.5
wk3: 128.9
wk4: 129.5
wk5: 128.5
wk6: 128.8
the weather here has been absolutely beautiful. It makes me sad that I'm inside studying all day, so I often go get coffee as an excuse to get outside. So now I'm overcaffeinated and peeing every 15 minutes, haha.
I'm the same way about coffee- I don't really buy it, I rent it! Sucks about the binges, but great that you're still keeping on and trying to beat it! And about the weather, ditto! I went for a walk this morning with my 2 youngest. The air was a bit cool but still so nice! If feels like I'm just coming out of hibernation!
So Jenn, are you glad to be back at work? Are you going through daytime tv withdrawl?! lol As horrible as it sounds to admit, whenever I get really sick and can't eat, I try to look at the bright side, thinking about the weight I'll lose (oh, that just sounds sooo bad!! but true) I haven't asked you about your bikini workout manual that you ordered awhile ago. Have you tried it out? What do you think of it?
One thing I don't do is drink coffee :) Not sure why but have never liked it....my mom said that once I have kids that will probably change lol.
I'm kinda of glad to be back to work....mixed feelings about it. I am definitely happy that I'm well enough though :) I have school this week so short week for me anyway. My work is putting me through Univ. so I go to school 3 days a month and then just do the rest from home.
I was happy this morning, people are really starting to notice my weight loss :) That makes me feel better than any # on the scale. I can't believe we've been at this together for over 6 weeks :) You all have been a huge help in keeping me on track...
Steph, the book I bought is great! And I'm really sure it would work great if I used it ;) I'm going to try and get back on track this week. The one night I used it was really intense and my abs and thighs/buns were killing me the next morning!!
Still not eating a lot of food...my stomach just isn't ready for it...so here is my day.
B: Banana, almonds
S: Thinsations "Bits & Bites" 100 cal pack...these are awesome, discovered them while grocery shopping last night!! Very filling :)
L: Lipton Cup of Soup, carrots
S: Activia Yogurt
D: Might try to make a light alfredo sauce out of laughing cow cheese and milk mixed with some pasta and broccoli
S: Tea, and apple pie...Our neighbour who lives upstairs invited us up for tea and pie after dinner tonight...she's a very sweet old lady :)
I had a huge chinese takeout lunch today, so I'm at 1350 cals already and its only 4pm. Salad for dinner tonight and hopefully I can keep it under 1600 cals. (no workout today either).
tea and apple pie with your neighbor sounds so cute! I'm jealous, haha.
And congrats on the weight loss compliments! Feeling good about yourself is all that really matters.
You all have easy access to sensible snacks and healthy food. I can't wait to go home for summer and take back control over my food selections! For now, portion control is the way to go.
I'm currently whitening my teeth to prevent myself from snacking and also because I drink so much coffee! =o) doubly productive.
Woohoo on having people notice your weight loss Jenn!! Thats gotta be a great feeling! Very neat that your employer is putting you through Univ., do you feel like you're doing a juggling act sometimes? lol. I suppose we all are!
Opa, it sounds like you're doing well :) It's too bad that you got hurt last weekend- is there anything you can do that's low impact for exercise that won't set you back? American universities must go a bit later than Can. ones, I think that students here are already done for the year (am I close on this Jenn?) What do you plan on doing for the summer? Do you work?
Yesterday I went to town for the day. I only had 707 calories until I got home at 5, and then I just decided to eat and eat and eat. About 700 calories for supper alone. And then after the kids went to bed hubby and I watched a movie and snacked on chips, adding another 400 or so calories to the total. To top it all off, hardly any exercise! Today will be different though!
B- 1C Raisin Bran Crunch, 1/2C 1%milk, flaxseed (check and yum)
L- 1C chili, 20 rounds, moccaccino bar (check)
Supper- 1/2C w/w pasta, 3C mixed veg, beef strips, 2Tbsp sauce (check)
Snacks- apple with PB, banana, rice crackers (and another moccaccino bar as well as a Chips Ahoy cookie)
Exercise- 900 cals on bike (700, but I've got some extra housework to do which should be good for 200!)
Thanks everyone :) It's nice when people notice. I do feel like I'm doing a juggling act most of the time but it's ok. I graduate in June :) And I think you are right Steph, I think US univ go longer...not 100% sure though.
I did the same thing with calories y'day. I only ate about 600 all day and then when I got home I had a pizza pocket (only have them in the house because there was a really good sale on them) and then went upstairs to my neighbours for tea (2 cups) and pie with ice cream!! Not even sure how many calories and I had seconds ;) THEN came back home at aroun 9 and ate another pizza pocket....and all I did for exercise is walk to/from work and took molly for a 15 min walk! I really need to get better with the exercise. The bike I was looking at on kijiji sold...and Chris doesn't think we need to spend the money right now :( So we'll see......I really just need to start doing some weight training and getting outdoors more!
B: Banana, Oatmeal to go bar
S: 100 cal snack pack
L: Subway (Turkey on ww)
S: almonds, pears
D: Not sure yet......we are helping friends move tonight :) So i'll get a bit of exercise that way.
Keep up the good work everyone!!
Tomorow's going to be crazy, I'll be starting out off the blocks as soon as I get out of bed, so I thought I'd post tomorrows today!
I'm getting my hair down tomorrow, cut and highlights which is very exciting for me! The last time I had my hair done was 17 months ago! (I shaved my head 19 months ago so my hair has had a lot of growing to do!) I've trimmed it in the back myself a bit just so that I don't have a mullet, but I'm too umm.. thifty (thats a nice way to say cheap, right? lol) to spend $20 on getting 1/2" cut off every 3 months and only in the back.
Also my in laws are coming to visit, bearing cigars as gifts from their trip to Cuba. Hoping they got the kids t-shirts or something instead!
B- 1C Raisin Bran Crunch, 1/2C 1%milk, flaxseed (check)
L- Chicken Yakisoba (nope, had a granola bar)
Supper- chili and chips (1 1/2 C w/w spaghetti, 1/3C coleslaw, wedge of w/w bread with butter, small piece of carrot cake, 2" square piece of apple crumble)
snacks- ? (none)
"I can't believe we've been at this together for over 6 weeks :) You all have been a huge help in keeping me on track..." post by Jenn
I know! I feel the same way! It would be so much harder without the encouragement and accountability! Thanks guys :) Hey. I know- lets all go out for pizza when we've all reached our goals...hmm on second thought, maybe not :P
I met with the nutritionist this afternoon. I was so nervous! I shouldn't have been, she was so understanding and not at all pushy or demanding. Basically she told me that I was calorie restricting too much during the day, and that's probably why I was binging at night (amongst other reasons). So I'm going to try to eat more during the day and hopefully not binge at night!
Anyway, the adrenaline rush from being so anxious about my appointment has me totally wiped out, and I could go for a REALLY long nap right now, haha.
Today so far:
bfast - bagel
lunch - chicken souvlaki wrap
snack - baby carrots, yogurt
snack - nature valley granola bars
late dinner - chicken and steamed vegetables
Steph, you shaved your head? I've always wanted to just out of curiosity, but I'm too scared, haha. I hope you had a good hair appointment!
I personally hate getting my hair cut, I've been traumatized by lopsided cuts or other poodle-like hairdos. Yeesh.
Omg! You shaved your head 19 months ago!! Your hair grows SO fast! It took mine forever to grow out...
Korean extraveganza was SO WORTH IT! Seafood pancake... bulgogi... kimchi... delicious soup... seared squid... AMAZING! I don't even know how many calories it was, but the next day I was totally bloated! 124 bloated!
Obviously I'm still at 120 today!
Today:
Grapes & Strawberries, Coffee with half & half
1/2 grilled ham & cheese sandwich
1/2 cup chocolate milk
Grapes, Apple, almond
Tri tip, vegetable salad w/ balsamic
3 Radla's made with Crystal Lite instead of Lemonade Mmmm!!!
1234! I'm going to be serious this week! I mean it this time!
Ugh. You guys! My daughters birthday party is on Saturday. I'm a sucker for cake! BUT! I have a plan:
Reduced fat hotdog, bun, mustard, kraut
Guacamole & 1 oz tortilla chips
4 Beers
1 peice of cake
Give away remainder of the aforementioned cake.
I can do it, right???
