Well I am not to my goal yet, but still wanted to share my successes.  I have lost 33 lbs since January, down from 257lbs. to 224lbs as of today.  I am doing the starting strength program rec. by melkor on this site, and as of today my lifts are as follows:

Squat-195

Bench-190

Dealift-275 (I am most proud of this!)

Military Press-115

Clean-160

All are 3 sets of 5 reps

I will leave all of you alone now.

Well done, Aidancolin!  That's a huge improvement!!!  I am also proud of myself lately... I started off at about 157 in October, and have slooowly and steadily gone down to 142.  I have 138 as my goal weight and to think I might reach it in another few months is very exciting.  I finally stopped putting off the lifestyle change and went for it.  Part of what helped me is to imagine the part of me that craves sweets and snacks all the time as a big whining, crying baby.  "Waaaah, I want a cookie, I know it's 7:00 in the morning but I want a cookie!!"  I decided I didn't want that part of me to have control anymore, that I wanted to "grow up" and leave the baby behind.

Your strength training is going really well too!!  Those numbers are very impressive.  You  must feel so great after your workouts.  Keep it up, don't let any setbacks get in your way!

Thx all for your supportive comments, I do want to make one small edit I said all of the lifts were 3 sets 5 reps.  The Deadlift is 1 set 5 reps according to the Starting Strength program.  I do 2 ramp up sets to the 275 work set though ;).  Now I just need to get down to around 205 and about 10% body fat and I will have reached my goal.  Almost there won't take that long now!
